  • Despite the comments from 'Michael' above (wondering if it is the same Michael I am dealing with now) I can tell everyone that this retailer is STILL pulling the same stunts 3 years later.

I ordered a bed 3 weeks ago which stated 5-10 working days delivery. After 11 working days (last Friday) I emailed them and got a phone call and 2 emails telling me they would deliver on Tuesday this week. Within hours I received another phone call saying no, that was not going to be possible. I then received an email from 'Michael' stating that delivery would be middle to end of this week without fail, but here we are on Wednesday and nobody has contacted me to arrange anything. In fact, since that email, nobody has contacted me at all from there. Customer service and keeping the customer informed do not seem to be high on their agenda.

I have emailed to say if the bed is not here by Friday I expect a full refund and my employer has offered the services of the legal arm of our company to pursue a claim if I choose to do so. Watch this space!
  • 4 years later and I am facing a similar issue. I have been waiting 40 days for 2 beds that were ordered for my children and each time I call the response is that it is the hauliers problem- yodel/hdnl whichever it is as I dont believe they are quite sure either. After arranging for a day off work (unpaid) no beds, when i called the company I am told no managers are in the offices- they travel about, yet I am then sent an email to tell me to wait once more at home until the delivery company calls up until 3pm to arrabge another delivery date. Really> Michael, surely you should have improved your customer services by now, and how I wish I had searched online about your company before buying from you!

I ordered a mattress from here (Kensington Stress Free double) as the price was really good. We'd been round our local bed shops and tried out the mattresses and liked this one, but they wanted £350 for the mattress. Eek, went on the web and found it in several places for £229, except The Bed Shop where it was £181, so an absolute bargain.

Read all the reviews on this site and asked myself whether it was worth it or not, but decided to go for it as you only ever seem to hear the complaints, not the praise.

I ordered 20/01/2012, delivered 03/02/2012. Great communication, I emailed them several times, because I was nervous having read this thread, and recieved responses to my emails within an hour. They also emailed me 3-4 times to update the status of my order as well, which was appreciated.

They phoned me up twice to confirm delivery and had the delivery driver phone half an hour before delivery so I didn't have to wait in. Fantastic service for me!

I have read lots of bad reviews, so admittedly was nervous and paid by credit card in case there was a problem rather than debit card, but everything went smoothly and the mattress is in perfect condition at a price that I couldn't find anywhere else at nearly 20% less than the next cheapest supplier.

I know this is an old thread, but others are still posting now, so thought it was worth putting on a recent review.

  • No inside job here! Alot of people just use these forums to post things when they go wrong. I've made it my new years resolution to post things when they go right as well! Posted twice now!!!

Ordered 3 items from The-Bed-Shop and wished I hadn't. Upon ordering, the items were in stock and available for 'Next Day Delivery'. After much chasing, over 3 weeks later I eventually received the items, although 1 was damaged thanks to poor packaging and neglect by YODEL. Yes, be warned, they use YODEL for deliveries! Immediately phoned 'customer services' - they didn't really seem interested or sorry and just wanted to get off the phone as quickly as possible. They told me it all needed to go down in an email to them. So, that is what I did. I didn't get an email response very quickly but it said "Unfortunately I cannot deal with your email as it requires a managers response". I've asked them to deal with my complaint within 24 hours. If I do receive good service from them regarding this then I will post the outcome. However, after reading reviews on here I somehow think this is going to be a long and drawn out process. At the moment, I suggest you avoid them. There are far better online retailers out there.
  • At the beginning of April this year I ordered a bed for my daughter from The-bed-shop.com, and the next day rang to see if I could add a mattress to the order. This was done and they took my credit card details, all no problem. Got the series if emails over the next few days, explaining the order status and updates. Finally after about a week I got an email saying that the complete order was ready and being "quality checked" abs they would phone be to arrange delivery to suit. I have not heard since, despite emailing, trying both phone numbers (which are now out of use) and yet they took our money. No bed, not even attempted to contact me to arrange delivery.

I really wish I had read some reviews on here first as I normally do; just glad that our credit card company are now investigating it on our behalf and have refunded us. Judging from how long the company has existed (in the current name- only one year!) as a registered company, I think they keep going bust and then re-opening as the same company with a different name.

Don't touch with a barge pole!!!
  • Havnt got time to write up the 18mth saga right now but suffice to say we've had 6 sofas (still not what ordered) 3 bounced £500 'compensation' cheques and are still waiting for the last sofa to be fixed and a cushion to be delivered.

    Please be aware to our knowledge (and we probably dont know it all )this company has operated under the following names;
    Suites to go London road
    Furniture 66 long lane Aintree
    Hudson furniture long lane Aintree
    Glacier furniture
    Tide furniture
    Infinity furniture
    The bed shop
    The furniture company

'director' names Jonathan le brocq, Michael le brocq, Kevin king.

Same people appear to be trading in long Lane (next door to furniture 66)

Also suites to go has now reopened with a different name (think its dreamland furniture) but you guessed it same people, as has the bed shop where Kevin king 'director' can be found.

We were lucky we refused to leave the shop until they gave us £500 cash in place of the last bounced cheque, they were still taking orders that day in the shop and over the phone and no doubt via the Internet then 3 days later the shop had allegedly been seized by bailiffs you're not telling me they didn't know this was happening but they still carried on taking people's money. Either that or it was a home made bailiff notice posted by themselves to avoid having to refund any money, I was suspicious when the website posted that customers should contact their debit card providers for a refund - I've never heard that one before !!

So much for trying to support local businesses. AVOID at all costs.
