I don't know if I am losing the plot altogether but I had intentions of making some little Yorkshire puddings and freezing them and also a rhubarb crumble using the rhubarb from the garden.
I made the mixture for Yorkies and then made the crumble mix.
I must have been lost in thought and I added water to the crumble mix.
Wasn't sure what to do with it so I rolled it out and made it into a pie crust.
It took a bit longer to cook and has turned out a bit hard but tastes like shortbread.
    Yorkshires were a disaster.
I didn't have any oil for the tins so I put some Trex in the bottom.
They didn't rise and are they are overcooked on the outside and very stodgy on the inside.
No doubt my son will not even notice the difference when he comes in from work but not sure what went wrong.

Happy Birthday Lyndseyanne & Master Kyle
    Happy Anniversary Mioliere

Redruby - Sunny Sussex was great, I always have to give myself a talking to when I get back but this time has been even harder. I had a little weep in the loo on the services on the way home and told myself I wouldn't be with OH if I was in Sussex and to stop moaning. Myself agreed with me, but still thinks I'm too far away from granddaughter:rotfl:

Pooky - I need to rant about an interview too.
As I got off the bus I got a call from the agency asking if I could make the interview at 11 instead of 10. So I had to sit in the reception for over an hour, the woman came out, said the agency hadn't emailed my cv to her, asked me what IT packages I could do, asked if I was ok on the phone, and had I ever worked on a school reception desk before, told her no, she did something funny with her eyes said thanks for coming and goodbye. I was actually only with her for 4 mins, I timed it. That was it. Not heard from agency so guess I didn't get it. This is now the 3rd job the agency have sent me for where they have wanted something I can't do , time for me to get a new agency methinks!!!!

I have made bread since I got back, 1st time I have done it by hand, but everyone keeps saying that the kneading is good for stress, think it worked 'cos I am remarkably chilled :rotfl:
whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

  • Hi there, I'm new to the site, and have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the OS stuff. I'm one of 8 children, brought up VERY frugally (by necessity - as you can imagine); and then became an impoverished, single parent, student mum who had to apply all I learned as a child about careful household management when bringing up my own children. But something happened....I spent years very hard up, graduated, got divorced, got hard up again - and then got a professional career, got the children raised...and then - I just became the biggest, most careless, profligate, silly spendthrift you ever saw. For the last five years or so I have just wasted so much money....! (Living with a tiny mortgage, large salary, saving nothing - spending loads and loads on rubbish I didn't even need..) Now, I'm moving to a slightly bigger, more grand-child friendly house (at least in part as a sort of 'forced savings plan' for the future) and all that will have to change.

Do you know? I'm actually looking forward to going back to my earlier way of living, and of having to make my money count for so much more (there is going to be much less of it when I take on the bigger mortgage..). Your money saving tips don't just help to save money - they make perfect sense in a world where very many people have too much, and others have far too little. I feel a bit sick at myself - and although I believe I have always been generous to other people, and work actively in fundraising - I still feel like I've been the stupidest and shallowest person on earth (eg. I've got 19 - yes, 19! - cashmere sweaters and about 60 pairs of shoes). Not least, I'm embarrassed about falling into all that marketing pap from magazines, supermarkets and other big business concerns.

Anyway, that's all over, and I'd be grateful for any advice during the time I'm 'detoxing' and starting to live a more sensible and ethical life. Now - I'm away to start my home-made break mix....and thanks for listening to my 'confession'....
  • welcome to the OS side of Life STM.
