Afternoon all,
I have not had a nap yet, am determined I will not, otherwise no sleep tonight, this is the dangerous time, as all my housework is done, washing blowing on the line, online shop done so I sit down for an hour then zzzzzz,
I am very excited ( I don't get out much), I have just picked all the redcurrants from the bush in my garden, and have made ...... wait for it...... two jars of jelly, I have never made it before, so we will see if it sets, I sort of followed delia's recipe, but did not measure anything, just did it by eye and taste, so we shall see, I love redcurrant jelly with meat, so hope it works.
Taking DD for a haircut tonight, were supposed to be going Friday, but they did not have time to blow dry it, so I cancelled. Am going to get up the beach for a walk later, there is a specific beach near us for dog walkers, and I must admit is kept very clean, we all pick up after our doggies
Kathy your nephew in france, is he the one who lost his mum when he was very young ? how are they getting on ?
Welcome, to Lunar Eclipse and Happy Anniversary to you and Mr Eclipse :T
Pippa s hello :j

Blairwitch, nice to see you back, sorry about you and OH xx
Off to do something to keep me awake0 -
Good afternoon. I'm not a regular here, but I need to vent my frustrations!
:wall: how can I be earning 22% more than last year thanks to my promotion yet still be overdrawn!
I didn't notice me buying a new house, getting a new car or having octuplets, so where has the cash gone??? Even my fiance has started paying exactly half the bills now but the money seems to drip away.
We clean the house in old style ways
We grow our own food
We've fixed our lecky and gas this month & get fantastic bills thanks to talk talk. Sky has gone and now we have sat freeview - not that we get time to watch it!
Perhaps my stomach is to blame - it's getting rather porky recently. Lunches out, the odd bottle of (more expensive) wine, a few evenings out a week?
Got to start saving more - I have a wedding coming up and even though the parents are paying (we're very lucky to have 'em, I couldn't afford it!) but we've got a honeymoon to go on and erm, well, the lady of my life doesn't really want to visit s!!!!horpe.
Budget planner says 'you've got plenty of spare cash' which is all the more worrying! Better knuckle down and stick the credit cards in the freezer.Tim0 -
Pippa.S - great to see you on here and Happy Anniversary to you and Mr Pippa.S for tomorrow! 41 years - you surely can't be old enough to have been married for 41 years!
exactly what I was thinking Miolierer.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Mioliere, I tried that, when with DB1 in Spain I asked if I could phone DB2 (it's only 3 cents per call) he said sure but tell him I'm out as I don't know what to say.
They have spoken once since they found out that they both have the big 'C'. Us femails find it easy to just chat or have heartfelt conversations but men seem to be tongue tied.
SorryI forgot to include _party_ HAPPY ANIVERSARY _party_

Tim_n - sounds like you need a spending diary - write down everything you spend even the few pence things & I bet it will shock you.
I did mine at the beginning of this year and couldnt believe it, I was spending more or less double what I thought.0 -

Today I have done washing and got it dry on the line been shopping and made bread and roll's I have a few job's left to do but will now slow down and work my way slowly through them Just going to have some lunch and a cuppa
pam xxI didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you
I am one of the English sexy Shelias
I'm also a hussy0 -
I know I spend more than I think, I'm just one of these people who seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time - take my allotment for instance when ever I say 'I went out and bought this' (this could be a spade, shed, wood etc) I get 'oh I chucked x out last week - you could have had it!'. Gah.
Tried to keep a spending diary but I either loose it or don't have a pen on me or forget to write something down. Useless eh? I've done spending diaries when I was a student and I could do it back then! Just not now for some reason!Tim0 -
:smileyhea :heartpuls happy anniversary moiliere and OH
:smileyhea:love:
welcome tim_n (I love the avvy BTW) - I find that not carrying cash works for me. There is rarely anything that I actually need instantly (and fewer things that I actually need once I think about it). Freecycle is great for odd bits (and for passing things on) if you don't mind second hand stuff. Eating out is an expensive hobby (that and expensive wine were former weaknesses of mine too). For a night out, I withdraw what I want to spend and hand it over in cold hard cash rather than plastic as it's easier to keep track of. If you find you can't keep a spending diary, bung all your receipts in a pot in the kitchen or a coat pocket then sit down at the end of the month and look at them. best of luck.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Rant Alert!
Dh arrived at 1.50pm for his interview (55 miles from home) to be told that his interview at 2pm was actually at the local office (3 miles from home).
The recruitment agency admitted they've been the ones to get it wrong but not much consolation for the waste of time, diesel and effort.
He's now bombing down the motorway to get to the other office but he's now lost an hour of his interview time ..... grrrrrrrrr.
He knows there's nothing he could have done about it but still feels it reflects badly on him.
I've suggested he go and put in a milage claim with the recruitment agency and see what they say. He phoned them on Friday to confirm everything and they didn't tell him...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I know it's just human error but grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Rant Over
On the plus side, weeded the garden, cleaned out the fish tank and got the washing all up to date and beds all changed.

celyn90/Essex-girl have just raided the work stationary cupboard (started out looking for an envelope but found a 'new' diary dating back to 2005!) so new shiny diary will act as latest spending diary. Recorded todays spend so far 78p on lunch (two tikka samosas) and £11.42 for todays and tomorrows dinners (that's joint, so technically £5.71!)- a lot of that is stuff that will last ages or will be for more than one meal - so not bad.
Shocked at the cost of courgettes and leeks! A leek 84p! two courgettes £1.20! I may have had to buy the leek but the courgettes are from my allotment (so organic not manky chemical spanish ones)Tim0
