why is everyone being so hard on the OP, I too would be pi55ed if I had to ask 3 times! It's no good saying he should have done this or that, that is not the point, he was there as a customer and the staff didn't do their job and sounds like gave him attitude as well.0

More annoyed that a parent could not get off his a*se to fetch a drink for their thirsty child. :rolleyes:Gone ... or have I?0 -
The way people get treated is always a refelction on the way they treat others. If you find this experience all the time Bluejake, it will be something to do with the way your behaving with the people serving you!
Absolutely, i work in a restaurant and if i'm busy, the lovely, courteous customer is going to get served quicker than the surly !!!!!! who treats me like a piece of crap. Just the way it is. Manners cost nothing. And you may think you are being polite, but body language is very important too.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
My experience of BA is similar to the OP's. BA cabin crew spending all their time with a bunch of drunken salesmen and ignoring all the other passengers. As the flight had been delayed 6 hours everyone was stressed out. The final insult was when the drunks were given priority at US Immigration because they had a connecting flight to catch. The only US airline I have flown with is Continental and their cabin staff were excellent - the noticeable feature being that they were mature ladies not bimbos. I have also flown with Ryanair whose staff were all polite.
Your experience with Continental is unusual. In my experience ALL US carriers (and most airlines that do the transatlantic legs - other than Air New Zealand in my experience) are dire.
Continental fly ancient aircraft - increasingly narrow body. If I had a choice, I would fly BA or VS any day. That said, my last trip to the US was with VS and they weren't particularly impressive.0 -

Just flew back and have to say that their over-made up light attendants are just really ill mannered, forgetful and downright RUDE!
OP is it fair to tar every BA cabin crew with the same brush? In my experience you can often get a small percentage of people in an organisation who are unhelpful however, the majority of employees are more than happy to help.
I echo what other posters have said in that i would have just got up and asked for a drink after 10 mins
You obviously feel you have been treated badly can i have whether you have complained. WHenever i have been treatedly badly i have coplained and approximatly 80% of the time i have had a response and even sometime a freebie!
Oh and my final comment is this: air hostesses are not glorified waitresses they are highly skilled and well trained to deal with customers on the aircraft but also have the skills beyond any normal person to cope in an emergancy. I am sure that if your child had begun to choke on his dinner and they had dislodged it then you would not be posting on this board, drink or no drink!Well we finally did it got a house not on a main road, next a railway line or any other werid and wonderful things that get on my nerves!!!

Precisely Claz.
Cabin crew undergo 6 weeks training prior to starting their flying jobs. They then undertake on the job training. 'Airheads' do NOT make the grade.
If the aircraft suddenly entered an emergency situation, and the crew had to prepare the pax for a crash landing...Would the OP be so aggressive towards them then? I think not.
As someone quite rightly said; if you thought BA were rubbish before you flew with them, why did you choose to fly with them a second time? If I think a company is rubbish, I don't use them again. It's simple.
Finally, was it a longhaul flight? If it was shorthaul, the crew would either have already served you drinks (by the time your child needed water) or they would have been on their way down to you.

Agreed. Has to be said in respect of the BA 777 which crash landed at BA, I have heard nothing but praise for the flight and cabin crew.0 -

So you condone staff being rude to paying customers?
Who was aggressive to the trolly dolly? Were you there?
The way a near disaster was handled has nothing to do with the bad service I experienced! What a stupid comparison.0 -
You still haven't answered my question, The Mighty Jack:
Was it a LONGHAUL or SHORTHAUL flight?
SFG x0 -
Well if that "trolly dolly" wasnt there there wouldnt have been a flight!
At the end of the day no matter that company/airline there are people with good and not as so good customer service and maybe you found someone who wasnt as good as they should have been however depending on the flight and wheather is was a short haul or long haul flight the crew may have been busy and although serving passengers food/drink is what is done on flights the priority is safety and following airlines pocedures. You say they were "strutting" down the isles for all you know the crew could have been very busy doing something safety related or something had BA need the crew to do I.e paperwork before landing. Yes you should not have needed to have asked on more than one occasion however i think you should look at the bigger picture you dont know the ins and outs on the flight and also we are all human.New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.
No place in the world that can compare ♥ 2nd October 2010 ♥0
