Whether people forget things or not usually depends on how much they have to remember on the spot. Perhaps your two jobs aren't comparable?

I dont forget things at work, and I dont need to be asked the same thing three times, and on top of that I dont get surly with the people who use my company thus putting money in my pocket.

An apology from BA staff? Wow! :T

The way that you act is often in the eye of the beholder.

Do you feel that you have been surly with people on this thread?
    Gone ... or have I?

As you rather charmingly described the crew on here as "waitresses of the sky" I can only shudder to think what your attitude was on the day.

Would you like to be barked at repeatedly whilst trying to look after lots of other people, by someone who didn't ask for adequate drinks during the service, and who failed to bring a supply of water for his child?

It is common sense to bring things for your kids IN CASE there is a problem- slot delays etc (pax are sometimes kept on board prior to take off due to a last minute slot change) Seems to me you took out your frustrations on the crew and you got the expected response. I agree with the other poster, why make your poor kiddy wait 45 mins for a drink? That's just cruel. You should have got out of your seat, and asked at the galley.

I am always polite to the crew, and speak to them like human beings, and my OH and I have been given loads of nice extra things. Similarly, as crew myself, if a pax is pleasant and polite and takes the time to chat and be civilised, they can expect to have an extra drink or two, maybe a complimentary kids toy or something if there is anything available.

Bet the crew won't miss you too soon.

Well Number 1. My request for water was polite. If you care to read my posting you can see exactly HOW she was asked.

    2. The service is SOLD on the fact that the airline will provide drinks, unless you have been living on a cloud you will be aware that there are restrictions on taking liquids on planes.

    3. No-one took fustrations out on the staff, she was asked to do something that is part of her job description and she went about it in a rude, surly way.

    4. She decided she was going to serve beer to a bunch of yobs to "keep them quiet" rather than serve a child water. Her bad, her lookout. At least we know where BA's priorities lie.

B.A are well known for offering a bad service to passengers, this is a prime example of their inabilty to provide good service

Incidently Passengers were told not to leave their seats, only crew were allowed to strut up and down the aisles. And while this was going on little miss too much lipstick was serving beer.

..... and little miss/mr want it all was depriving his/her daughter of water because they were too stubborn to raise it with the necessary crew, in a way that they would be willing to respond.

Obviously, I am aware of restrictions on taking liquids THROUGH SECURITY. I am also aware of the many AIRSIDE establishments that sell bottled water...

Seems to me like you are commenting more about the crew's make up than anything else. Why is that?

Maybe the 'yobs' asked for more beers in a polite and normal manner. Why else would someone ignore you and Mighty Jack Jr for a group of fellas? Doesn't make sense Mighty Jack.

Incidentally, I have worked in the airline industry for 10 years, and I know nothing about BA having a bad reputation TBH. I have always been treated marvellously by them (even upgraded on one occasion). Perhaps if you try being polite, you will find this reaps rewards for you and your family.

I assume the service had already taken place? Was this a longhaul flight?

That's rubbish. Perfectly entitled to get up and about when the seat belt sign is off.

No, theres restrictions on what you can take through Airport security, you can then buy liquids in the departure lounge or fill an empty bottle if you really don't want to pay for anything.

Air travel is generally dismal and something that just has to be endured. Uncomfortable, poor service and being treated like a convict or a naughty schoolboy rather than a paying customer. Security is the trump card that the airlines use to excuse rude, lazy and dishonest staff and to avoid being accountable to paying customers.

Those people above who rave about how wonderful the airlines are haven't flown enough or they are the rude, lazy and dishonest staff.

You just have to grin and bear it - they have a captive audience - and maybe plan ahead to offset their indifference. E.g. if you are vegetarian bring some food for when they offer you beef on that meal you ordered and no they haven't got anything else left...

And they don't call economy cattle class without good reason.

The way people get treated is always a refelction on the way they treat others. If you find this experience all the time Bluejake, it will be something to do with the way your behaving with the people serving you!
