Our tank is registering less than 5%, but today's Flogas employee informed me that it would have to be empty to get an emergency response - so it's back to the hot water bottles and heating switched on for an hour in the evening.
That's crazy! Tank gauges are only accurate +- 5% at best. You could be right down on fumes.
I thought that there was some regulation whereby the supplier had to ensure continuity of supply?0 -

So just call them and tell them it IS now empty and you've got NO heating or hot water - they're not exactly going to send an engineer out first to check that it really IS empty, before sending the delivery truck out, are they?!!!!0 -
I thought there was a goverment ruling that no one should be left without heating even when they cannot pay the bill.I requested gas from calor at the beginning of the last lot of bad weather and was surprised to receive it on the thursday with about 12 inches of snow on the ground and I had 50% still in my tank0

our supplier who we are contracted with until may next year is premier gas based in blackpool, they recently raised the price to 48p p/litre a 50% rise in total over 12 months. my neighbour is being charged 35p by shell ( a new customer so wont stay low for long) i rang around local suppliers and calor is 40p and flogas 40p fixed for 6 months so please AVOID PREMIER GAS lure you in with a cheap deal then after first delivery a price rise each subsequent order.0

That more or less mirrors my experience with Calor - their prices maybe high and their adherence to the minutiae of the contract all but non-existent (where it suits them!) - but as I have said before, I was impressed by the determination of their front-line service personnel to make it through, whatever the weather on the couple of occasions that that was an issue!0 -
There has just been an interesting item on Radio 4's "You and Yours" programme (16 dec) about soaring domestic heating OIL prices and the lack of regulation in the market (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00wlggk). It's available on "Listen Again" from that link and starts about 6mins and 45secs into the stream. They are asking people to contact them with their comments and experiences (my guess is they will be planning a follow-up piece in the near future). Now bearing in mind, that Oil users are NOT locked in to two year contracts and are free to buy from wherever they can get the best price, (unlike LPG users) and also that the thrust of the argument against regulation was that domestic heating oil is supplied by a veritable multitude of small companies, I think it would be very worthwhile to contact the programme and suggest that they also look into the domestic LPG Market.!
The programme can be contacted by email at youandyours@bbc.co.uk, or via the main BBC Switchboard (0845 519 1471) and asking for the "You and Yours" production office.0 -
There was a discussion on this mornings programme about oil companies putting up there prices,I think we should all e-mail that link to get us included in any review.0

Over a year since I moved into my house with lpg and I can’t believe how much I spend to heat it!!!! This aside Premier has actually been good to deal with. Have come back to this thread whenever I‘ve needed a fill or the price gone up to compare. with Extra gas at 52p I guess 48 with Prem is good – can’t believe I’m saying that?!
DavidT, if the main reason our price goes up is because the wholesale price keeps going up what are suppliers doing about these ridiculous wholesale hikes!?0 -

Hi,
It appears there is not a dam thing the gas supply companies can do to stop wholsale prices rising. Unfortunatley LPG is traded on a world market price like oil , so lets say we all said we wont buy it at the prices they are asking, they would just ship it out of the UK, they have plenty of other people who will buy it. The only way it could be stopped was if the government made them sell some LPG made in the uk to the UK population at a set price.
Just a warning to all who view this site, price at the moment is not the main worry, its lack of product. All UK stock of LPG in now depleated and the refineries cannot produce enough for demand. I am already receiving calls from customers of other gas companies who have run out and are being told they wont get a delivery till January!!!
Make sure you order before you are too low, 30-40% not 5% and check your tank level now!!!0
