Mister_G said:I had a situation many years ago where my tank had been installed, by my initial supplier, underneath a 11kV power line. Calor bought out the company and decided that the tank needed to be relocated. They asked me to provide a new concrete base at my expense, but they then moled in 40m of new plastic pipe across the front garden to the house.
This was done at their expense, but they then tried to put my ppl price up by more than the amount allowed in the contract (obviously trying to recover some of their costs). I therefore left them and went elsewhere (with my nice new compliant tank!).
I am fortunate in having a local independent supplier who charges competitive rates.
Not sure how much of this is relevant to your particular situation but I thought I'd pass this on.0 -
The rules on power lines did change. So there are older tanks under lines that would not be OK today.1

Reply to JerryW as I can't do it the normal way as reply won't work......................................
Thanks Jerry. I did exactly as you suggested. They were brilliant. First of all sent a chap to repair a plastic pipe, when he discovered it was old style copper he said he would recommend I needed it replaced under the replacement program. They did this for free as it's a national scheme over four years. A whole team turned up, dug up the drive etc and placed new plastic pipework to the wall where it enters the patio area. I was at work at the time, the misses was with them and she called to say "more bad news, Calor have hit the water pipe and it's spewing everywhere." Calor paid Severn Trent to replace the water pipe from the road as they couldn't bodge a repair as it was old style steel pipework.
So all ended up well, thing is I'm still out of contract and down to 15%. I do feel like I owe Calor one so might well go with them in the next few days. When things went tits up they were absolutely brilliant.

When things went tits up they were absolutely brilliant.I'm so glad it has ended well for you. Groups like this are powerful and make the playing field much more even, when it comes to dealing with the big suppliers.I usually start to panic around 15% left .. not such a problem in this weather I suppose, no heat needed, but it will surely be worth getting a fill from Calor.People are often rude about the big lg suppliers, and sometimes with reason, especially when dealing with the sales staff who are basically sharks. But the engineers and drivers are nearly always helpful. So far as loyalty goes, when a similar thing happened to me I did stay with Calor for another two years, but eventually the economics kick back in.If you would like a little more advice, spend an hour phoning round for quotes (two year fix!) and then show Calor the cheapest one and say you will stay with them if they can match it. I expect even if they can't, they will get close... let us know how you get on!If what I said helped you, please "Thank" the relevant post. It cheers me up somewhat..2 -
LPGSAVE have recently quoted me 49ppl for a two year fix with FloGas, which would probably be a good place to start with your negotiations with Calor.
Good luck 🙂4 -
For anyone looking I got a similar deal to Tinhat direct with flogas so it is a good starting point0

I'm just about to start fresh negotiations with Calor after 2 years locked in at 39p. Has anybody got any recent quotes that they would like to share so I can get a feel of the market.
I also put a query into LPG Save but received nothing back and that was over 2 weeks ago. Has anybody got any recent experience with them as well?0 -
