Unfortunately I think the general inflation/supply chain issues may have impacted LPG since July.WJB1971 said:Keep haggling and keep trading them off against each other, leave if you have to, to get the best deal you can. In July 2021 agreed a deal with Flogas 34ppl fixed for 2 years.
Got a quote from Flogas to switch to them of 40ppl fixed for 2 years. Went back to Calor as wanted to stay with them if possible. Best they would do is 44.9ppl variable for 2 years or 46.9ppl fixed for 12 months then variable for 12 months. They said they're not currently price-matching competitors!
So we're switching.
I have been out of the country since 20 October 2021 and upon my return was an impersonal letter from Calor Gas telling me that my rate will go up by 9.00p per litre ex vat to 51.00p ex vat. There was no date on the letter, just a note -"Correct at the time of writing - 23 September 2021".Contract ends 25 January 2022.

After 22 years with Calor Gas I have given notice to terminate my contract under paragraph 6.2.I have been offered a 1 year & year 2 gas price of 40p per litre + 5% vat for the full 24 months of the supply agreement.A saving of £462pa cash.Thought you might like to know.0

Contract coming up for renewal with Flogas. Initial gambit from them is 42ppl fixed for 2 years a 15% rise over the 36.4ppl I'm currently on- not bad considering the news about natural gas price increases. Timing seems to be everything seeing the deals earlier this year.
I've filled out the online form with Gas Save. Need to call Calor and the others. So it begins....0 -

Do you happen to know your annual usage, roughly? We use around 3000 litres per year. 0 -

Yes, I use 4,000 Litres pa. I obtained my quote through https://lpg-save.co.uk/

Ah, thanks! I'll try that as my quote was direct. It was more expensive than Flogas by some margin and they just said "We're not price-matching at the moment".Poundnote said:pinkteapot said:Poundnote said:

But, I've started a separate thread because we then tried to switch to Flogas and it turns out we can't! Flogas say the tank doesn't meet their rules, even though it's only 2 years old and meets Calor's.0 -
Just put the boulders down when your site visit is arranged and then remove them once this is over. It is beyond a joke how the industry body makes the rules, changes them and instead of the owners of the tanks having to adhere to the rules the only time the regulations are used is when there is a change of supplier. If the regulations are that important then the LPG companies that own the tanks should be making sure they are compliant on every visit. They don't/pinkteapot said:But, I've started a separate thread because we then tried to switch to Flogas and it turns out we can't! Flogas 42ppl fixed for 2 years
Calor 39ppl yr 1, Max 3.5ppl per qtr. increase for year 2.
LPGSave (Flogas) 42ppl fixed for 1 year, Max 3ppl increase Year 2
Avanti 41ppl for Yr1, Max 3ppl increase per 6 months for year 2.
JGas still awaiting a quote.
The standing charge for the UG tank is very similar with all of them.
So its either Calor or Flogas at the moment. Calor deal is more risky. I went with Calor last time, but the change prompted Flogas to improve their rate and I stayed with Flogas at the 11th hour.
Any other ideas for getting cheaper LPG? Contract runs out next week.0 -
With the prices that you have there, Flogas would be my choice. The Calor quote allows a 14p increase in year 2 and Avanti 12p. If your usage was similar across both years then you would be £840 with Flogas for 2 years - £1680 or Calor would be £780 for year 1 and £960 for year 2 which would be £1740. However based on the size of your tank and your usage profile, you could get a fill from calor at 39p just before your second year increases kick-in and effectively get the majority of your gas at the 39p level.philtrick123 said:

I'm thinking of chancing with Calor and seeing if it prompts Flogas to improve their offer. The tank transfer process seems to prompt some action.mcmullank said:
