Bulk LPG - Cheapest suppliers / supply route?

philtrick123 said:Hi all,
My 2 year contract with Flogas is coming to an end in the next couple of months- currently 36.4ppl + VAT fixed for 2 years.
I'm concerned by the current gas/energy 'crisis' that's plastered across the news. Is LPG also affected?- I'm assuming yes. Some smaller energy companies are going bust because I assume they can't sustain the already agreed fixed prices with customers.
How is this going to affect my renewal price?
I don't want to commit to a high 2 year price, only for it to drop a few months later.
Can I fill up my bulk tank just before contract end and then not resign for 2 years, on the hope that prices will drop? I presume flogas would still fill my tank but at some £££ rate.
Interested to get your thoughts.
Also thinking about the cost benefits of changing our 12 year old lpg combi for a hybrid lpg/air source boiler. We have UFH downstairs, but still need to do the sums- any thoughts on this if LPG prices are going up.
I have just renewed with Flogas for my LPG supply.
Got quotes from Calor, Avanti as comparisons and Flo were cheapest.
Final agreed prices were:
Year 1: 32p/L
Year 2: maximum 3p/L increase (so 35p/L)
Standing Charge: £80.00 (underground tank)
NOTE: I had to negotiate (they initially offered 33.5p/L Y1, 36.5p/L Y2)
I'm in North Oxfordshire in case geography affects it!
For comparison:
Calor offered 35p/L fixed for 2 years, £92.00 standing charge
Avanti Offered: 31p/L year 1, 36p/L year 2, £110.00 standing charge
Thanks,

Good work, so long as that maximum 3p increase holds and is not overruled by the clause in the contract you signed that allows an unlimited increase, if wholesale prices increase ... in my Flogas contract it was clause 8.2.3, which I deleted before signing.
If what I said helped you, please "Thank" the relevant post. It cheers me up somewhat..0 -

How many litres of LPG are you consuming per year?0 -

You mentioned in your post about a hybrid ASHP/LPG boiler. We have one of these, its Daikin. I say have, the ASHP part died last year, it will cost £5k to replace the part that is broken, so we are just using the boiler part now. It was only 2.5 years old, but out of warranty. Its swings and roundabouts tbh, as when it was working our electric bills were through the roof, now what we used to pay for electric we are paying with gas fills!
And dont get me started on that as Flogas didnt tell us we were out of contract and did 2 fills at 65 ppl, expensive year last year, this year can't be much worse tbh!
Our neighbours have a fully ASHP system with no backup, and they are paying £400 average across the year per month electric on a 4 bed semi.
If I had my time again I would have just stuck an oil boiler in and buried my head in the sand! Most of the people on our lane are on oil, and at least you can shop around with that!!

Coming to the end of my contract with AvantiGas, was paying 33p/36p for year 1 and 2.
I was worried after seeing the price of wholesale gas increase hugely.
LPG-Save offered 32p/yr fixed for 2 years with FloGas, I've also reached out to Calor but am yet to year back.
Avanti were ok, some issues around delivery when we had snow, but they paid for a couple of electric radiators.
The trust pilot reviews and comments on here about FloGas going back on fixed price are concerning.
Has anyone in Scotland used FloGas?0 -

Has anyone in Scotland used FloGas?.. good work with the renewal. That is not a bad price.I looked at Trustpilot - but almost all the reviews for Flogas were excellent. I don't believe they have ever gone back on a genuinely fixed price, unless anyone knows different? I suspect they might have been folk who thought the "3p max increase in year 2" con related to actual gas prices...

I think that those of us on LPG rather than Mains Gas are in a "better place" at the moment. If we can get a fix at 32ppl for 2 years, that's not bad at all.
I know its still dearer than Mains Gas, but the gap is narrowing!0 -
Quote back from Calor is coming in at 39ppl fixed for the entire 2 yrs. Avanti came back with 31ppl in yr1 but variable in yr2.
My thoughts are that the Avanti one will claw back any savings in yr2 and that the stability of the Calor offer is probably best for our estate.
