Bulk LPG - Cheapest suppliers / supply route?

... but, has he 'bought' the tank himself, or just had it installed with a contract from supplier X??
I await the documentation from solicitor but as I understand him, he is installing it himself.
I emailed several suppliers yesterday. The frst to come back was on the basis that I had my own tank & quoted 42p/l. The 2nd to come back completely ignored what I had said and sent me a standard email saying installation would be £395 for below ground tank or £595 for above ground tank, £60 p.a above ground or £95 p.a below ground for tank rental and 43p/l.
I was therefore surprised at how relatively inexpensive it is to have the tank installed and also that of the two quotes I have had to date there is little difference in the p/l quoted.0 -

We're in the middle of having a new tank installed at the mo, and Calor are doing it for free (we provide the concrete pad - £50 for a minidigger and £150 for readymix delivered, together with a bit of elbow grease) as well as their £150 "free gas" offer for a new contract (48p/12mo fix). So "inexpensive" that ain't particularly.0 -
Hi there
This may be a stupid question - but I'm having difficulty understanding how many litres my tank takes:(. It has a gauge that reads 0-90 in black with 10 and 80 being red ( I'm assuming warning levels for full/empty). I got a quote from supplier 51.75ppl + 5% vat. (I Asked for a tank fill price and advised that gauge was at 10 ( just touching 10) and was quoted £543.37 for 1000l. Just got paperwork and its showing 1560l. So obviously this is going to come in at a lot more than quoted.
I fill tank every Aug and over the years a fill has ranged from just over £350 in 2009 to well over £1000 last aug! I struggle to figure out how they get 1560l going from 10 to 80 on the gauge!
Any insight would be much appreciated. I know the prices are high in comparison but I think it's because I'm very rural and there aren't many supply options. Cheers:):rotfl:If it weren't for stress I'd have no energy at all. First rule of acting: Whatever happens, look as if it were intended.;)
Don't follow in my footsteps, I walk into walls:smileyhea When in doubt .............mumble.
I may look busy, but I'm just confused.:T I smile because i have no idea what's going on.:rotfl:0 -

They're %ages, rather than absolute values. The tank will have a label on top of it - have a look, and it'll say the capacity (might need a good wipe over with a damp cloth!). Just as LPG tanks on cars, they can't be filled above 80-90% full. If they're squeezing 1560l in, and it still had 10% in, then that's probably going to be about a 2000l tank.0 -
Thanks AdrianC. That's probably about right then. So the 0- 90 is %? That's what was confusing me! Wonder why they don't just put 2000 on it:rotfl: it would make life a lot easier.:rotfl:If it weren't for stress I'd have no energy at all. Nonsense (sorry
)
There are *many* supply options, read this thread and find the uklpg site for guidance

With respect.... I have already read this thread.....and have posted in it in the past:beer:
I have looked into changing suppliers, but as I live on an island, I am well aware that there IS only one supplier prepared to supply here. Hence the price is higher ( captive audience).
Nobody wants the hassle of delivering here :rotfl::rotfl:If it weren't for stress I'd have no energy at all. First rule of acting: Whatever happens, look as if it were intended.;)

once the trenches and hole is dug, how long does it normally take (once they are on site) for a domestic LPG underground tank installation?
would it be done in a day?

I don't think this rather abrupt post can go unchallenged.
If you follow the directions given above I think you will find that UKLPG will list from 3* to 10+ suppliers.
Previously UKLPG appeared to list a minimum of 4 ...which is why several of us took the trouble to write to the Office for Fair Trading about the take-over of BP's LPG operation by Flogas ..requesting it was referred to the Competition Commission (which had of course done a major earlier market report in 2004-06 which resulted in it being easier to change suppliers).
There's a large amount of material in the National Archives, including some very interesting responses from the major suppliers (and the independents too!) - unfortunately many figures and suppliers' names have been redacted.
http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/http:/www.competition-commission.org.uk/inquiries/current/gas/
UKLPG claims** to supply through its members over 95% of the LPG used in the UK.
* But I obviously didn't put in ohmochraich's unique post code to get his/her unique supplier!
