    Hi,
Well I have had a morning sorting out new budgets/holidays etc, and have decided to have a change of tack.
Basically we are now moving on to weekly budgets instead of monthly- will see how it goes but I only ever dealt monthly before because I was paid that way!
So would like to declare July at £262 (from £250 budget) and that we will have a weekly budget of £40 from now on.
Thanks Angelnikki/MrsM for keeping these threads organised :)

Hi folks, have just updated my signature and added in the few bits I got in Waitrose this morning. The broccoli they sent in Friday's delivery was going a bit yellow when it arrived so I took it back today and they gave me double the cash refund! I bought some more broccoli, a lemon and some biscuits (visitors for tea this pm and no way I am going to put the oven on in this heat!) - also bought a bottle of wine for DH's special birthday meal as I heard that the M&S offer (dine in for 2 for £10) finishes today and I can't get there till tomorrow. So, with the refund this cost me £10.32, leaving £8.26 of my original budget. I think I will declare tomorrow after I have been into Oxford to meet my DD1 - just in case I am tempted to spend on a bargain or two!

We had gammon done in the sc today (I put it on at 7.30 this morning and it practically fell apart when I tried to carve it at 1.30!) with new pots, broccoli, cauli, carrots and hm parsley sauce. Plenty of gammon left for a cold with salad meal tomorrow and will freeze what we don't use.

Well that's it for now - off to make tea for my visitors.

Ifonlyitwaseasier - sorry to hear your news - keeping my fingers crossed for you.

    Love Moniker

hi, how come the july challenge is down here now?!

take it you have to put your budget and final amount in red when youre done?

im looking to go over by about £20 i reckon, but not bad for the first months challenge i suppose. :D

got a loaf of 'going stale' bread in the cupboard, so bread and butter pudding tonight - yum!

Update at the end of week 2 of the challenge (£70 per week - from 15th (payday)).

Week 1 - £27.21 over but that did include DH's birthday meal.
Week 2 (declaring now as tomorrow will be an NSD) - £2.06 over.

Quite pleased with that as we now have food now till Friday evening so week 3 with any luck should be even better. The only thing we will need later in the week is bread.

It's amazing how much more careful you are when you're more conscious of where the money is actually being frittered away!

Good luck to everyone in the final days of the July challenge.
MFW Challenge (Tgt Date Nov 07): ACHIEVED FEB 07!

Cheap KTC Brand Tinned Tomatoes in ASDA

If anyone is thinking about "downshifting" to these, stop thinking about it and do it. Stock up with a few. I reckon they are very good indeed.

On paper - the label - the drained weight is only 240g (compared with the ASDA standard own brand ones at 260g). On the plus side, they are from Italy, where they know a thing or two about tomatoes.

When I opened the tin, I have to say that I was most impressed. There may be 20g more juice than tomatoes than in the other ones, but it was really, really thick - some still stuck to the lid

just thought I would pass this on,, we need a few cans of tomatoes so will go to Asda,,,, as we need milk as well,,,

I've had these - and they are GOOD - I buy Napolina toms, but these are my secnd choice (and MUCH cheaper) - I bought some on offer end of last year for £1 for 4!!
