OrkneyStar - I'm a SAHM as well, and it does make money extremely tight for us! But while DH doesn't make a whole lot, if I was working, it would simply be to pay for childcare, which seems silly to us. It means it will be quite a bit longer than we'd hoped before we're debt-free, but we're prepared to deal with that. My DS (just turned 2yrs) is incredibly picky about his food right now. There are certain meals I try to schedule regularly as I know he will eat them. Other things are hit and miss - some days he'll eat them, other days he won't. He loves bread, though, and will eat practically ANYTHING in a sandwich, so I've sometimes resorted to that!
He wouldn't eat HM chicken noodle soup the other day, so I drained the stock out, put the noodles, veg, and chicken in a sandwich, and he ate it all. :rotfl: It can be a right challenge getting him to eat sometimes!
I'm a SAHM too - well, technically I'm a self employed aromatherapist - but I don't have many clients and made a loss the tax year before last - haven't done last year's accounts & tax return yet:o As far as income is concerned I'm a SAHM for all intents and purposes (I'm a good girl and declare all my income - but expenses can be high with advertising etc)
I have a 10 yo and an 8 yo. With the 10 yo I went back to work full time at 7.5 months. With the 8 year old 3 (long) days a week at 7.5 months. It has been SO nice this time (I also have a 2.5 yo) to stay at home - makes a big difference and I love being able to take my kids to school/ pick them up/ attend school events etc. Also, we moved house and increased our mortgage by 100k when I was 7 months pg with no 3 - so we lost an income, gained an extra mouth and increased household outgoings (mtge, council tax, water, gas & elec) within a 6 month period!
The plan was meant to be that I really attempt to build 'my business' (hah!) this year - but the economic situation means there's not a huge amount of cash for people to spend on massages (although strangely I have had 4 new clients this month!)
Dh earns a good salary - but our outgoings are high to go with it (although only other debt than mtge is DH's CC - approx 2-3k?)
Anyway, the original reason for this post (now lost in the length!!) was to say my 30 mth old has turned picky in the last 3-4 months. He was a fab eater - couscous with roasted veg, roast meals, omelettes etc - now exists primarily on cereals (shreddies, rice crispies & (bizarrely) special k), bread (another one) - toasted or just bread and butter, tortilla wraps (plain), grated cheese (not sliced!), chips (nice fat wodgy ones oven baked - virtually wedges) and noodles, with the very occasional bit of eggy-rice! He is a massive carb lover - ooh, forgot the breadsticks! - but will eat finely chopped raw pepper. However, he is a perfect weight/ height, never ill and a happy child. He'll grow out of it eventually. DS1 & DD went through a picky stage - ok, she's not a brill eater now but he will try just about anything - so I'm just chilling about it and figure it will sort itself out eventually!
Argh! Children! Love em to pieces, but sometimes...... :rotfl: Wouldn't be without them though!

keep offering what you all eat as a family with extra carbs for little one if thats their thing.Don't get too hung up on monitoring or chastising them but +++++ praise if doing well.Take bowl when finished (no emotion at all unless it is nearly eaten) and only give snack at snack time and not 1/2 hr after eating (do not chase around with food on spoon or fork)
You have other children but it is difficult if your baby is fussy and you know it will pass.
Hope this help,

Well my grocery challenge is going to become more interesting from now on........
I went to collect DD from school and came home with a kitten  .
She was homeless and beautiful so I couldn't say no. DH being the big burly man he is keeps calling her sh1tbag and threatening to cook her but I went out earlier and came home to find them cuddled up together on the sofa  .
DS has claimed her his and named her Willow (much less embarrasing at the vet than DH's name :rotfl: ).
So £20 something spent today on kitting her out.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Hi, :hello: I am fairly new to MSE and would like to join the grocery challenge as we (me & OH) have only recently started money saving and have been spending far more than we can afford on groceries (£600 per month for 4 @ Tescos) any advice will be gratefully received. Scared to use MOC's though unless I buy the thing so I am spending more really.
I will read past posts when I can stop entering the competitions listed, really hooked at the minute.

Morning everyone - well that was a tight month on the GC using up Freezer and cupboard supplies. Angelnikki - my total for July is £149.22, just made it and as my August Budget starts Friday and I have Milk etc in I won't need anything else until shiny new budget starts. Don't know yet what to set myself for August, wanted to go back up to £250 for a normal month, shall have a think about it and let you know.;)
The weather is fab now and loving picking Salad, Rocket, Radishes etc. Got plenty of little green tomatoes, can't wait for them to ripen, some little courgettes forming (I was a bit late putting those in). Loving the kids being off School, we broke up last Friday here, they said they didn't realise how much baking/cooking I do and they are enjoying helping so School Hols off to a great start.:D
Off to water everything in the Greenhouse now as it's going to be another Scorcher today.:j
Have a great day everyone.:D"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.
