Today was my first day back at work after Maternity leave. DS started crying as soon as I turned to leave. I later found out he refused to eat any breakfast, made me feel like the worst Mum in the world. I would love to be a sahm, but we just can't afford it at the moment.

Mine DD did the same when I first left her at playschool - cried (or actually sobbed) when I walked out, even though she was used to being with a childminder from before, but the playleader told me to stay for a minute, then showed me through the window where the cheeky little madam was sitting playing with some other kids laughing her head off - Kids just love to guilt trip us eh! :D I promise you they do get used to it, honestly. You have to do what you have to do and they will understand, especially when they get older.

I have just gone through all my clothes too, no new wardrobe for me though :o , and have 2 black bin liners to go to the charity shop. Was quite ruthless but needed to be really.
Today was another gc NSD (did spent approx £3.50 but was from other budget- bought DS a wee cone as a treat after his jabs :o ).
The fish cakes were lovely for tea. Tomorrow is chilli kebabs (whoopsies from the COOP), corn on the cob and mixed pepper rice. mmmmmmm. Will have some chutney with it and maybe make some garlic mayo too.
Need to make some bread tomorrow and also some Tiffin too as a wee treat for us all. Also need to make some cheese biccies for DS. The wee soul is a nightmare with food right now, some meals he scoffs the lot, others he will not even touch! He loves things he can hold and adores bread but he needs to eat more than that!

its a good feeling isnt it...must add that the wardrobes were only new to me(got them off ebay)saved a fair bit off a new set,got a spare door if anyones interested??:D xx

Oooh, apologies, just got to the end of the thread after being out all day and have seen that I have posted loads of replies.... oooerrr

Anyway, have been shopping ALL DAY - from 11am when I reached Hemel Hempstead until 7pm tonight when we finally got back to my friends house - Grand total ...(drumroll please...) £1,800 (approx) ... Don't panic, that's not my grocery shopping but bits for a showhome we're about to do so it was great fun spending someone elses money, I recommend it thoroughly, although my feet are absolutly killing me now :D .

All this means another NSD for me today, but I really don't know how long I can make this last as we are like old mother hubbard at the moment... lucky I was brought lunch today so didn't have to cook when I got home and hubby found a chicken pasta in the freezer (I think they are the only things left in there along with the frozen veg! :rotfl: ).

Will have to get some basics to see me through to Friday (payday and month end for me) - think it will take me over my 21p that I have left of my GC! wonder how many whoopsies I can get for that?...:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Just updating my sig, don't know what happened thought I'd done it the other day (thought I had a lot left).

DS2 much brighter today, hope when we go for xray tomorrow everything is ok.

Back to work today, felt like I'd missed more than a week. Decided I can't really afford to give job up, don't know what to do if Mum decides she wont look after boys. It is making me really depressed now, thinking about it. Talked to a friend at work and got upset, so now she must think I'm stupid. Feel like eveything is going wrong.

Made currant cookies and jam thumbprint cookies. Amazing how baking makes you feel a bit better.
dont put yourself down, and dont feel stupid, shes your friend, your meant to vent to her! besides, sorting care for your boys is a big deal and your allowed to worry too,be a bit easier on yourself hun,it will sort itself out, lifes like that, throws carp at you then it all works out, wish i knew why:confused: keep your chin up though, pity im in worcs,id have your boys for you otherwise,(be an excuse for me to stay off work,as my mat leave should end soon:cry: )xxx

It's been a long day! Spent most of it in town and have spent loads - though most of it not on me and not from gc budget!

Made three cottage pies from the pot roast brisket (one for us tonight, one for the freezer and one little one which I took to DD1) and it was delish! Don't think I will ever do one with raw mince again - recyling leftover beef or lamb is so much tastier!

Had to pop into Sainsbury's tonight as we were out of salt for the dishwasher and it said that it had run out. I also got some eggs and milk as we used more at the weekend with our extra visitor. But they were completely out of bananas!

I was well chuffed because I got a whoopsie! Organic runner beans reduced from £1-49 to 20p! I bought 2 packs and will blanch and freeze them tomorrow.

Well off to update my sig and then to bed. OH still working - don't know how much longer he can keep this up!

Mooloo - so sorry to hear about the theft, leaves you with a nasty feeling. I had my handbag stolen once - not nice at all.
Angelnikki - I think a link to previous months' recipes on the current month's might be best otherwise the list will be too long to search through.

Felt a bit down today so was nice to read everyone's posts.

I've updated my signature today. NSD's over the weekend and only £13.63 spent today on milk, cheese, yogs, w'meal bread flour, bananas and peanut butter (b & pnb on crispbread for brekky - yum) though it was still more than I'd intended. Shall keep doing small shops now until the end of the month, probably just fruit and veg, with the plan being to have as many NSD's as possible. Then I'll have a good idea of what I can put myself down for for the August GC. I have 3 paydays which rarely coincide because of getting State Pension and a couple of small private pensions and they're paid into 2 different accounts. Normally if I don't have enough money in one, then I can go to the other one. One has an overdraft facility (that's the one I plunder and of course go overdrawn), the other doesn't so that's the one I plan to use for the GC. This will make me very, very careful (don't want bank charges even if you can claim them back) and downright stingy!!

What is owls by the way?
    Dec GC £100/76.61/16.46/10.19 - £103.26
    Jan GC £100/64.20/20.91 (£14.89 left)
