Hi everybody,
Welcome back Mrs MC we're all thinking of you.
Just a quick update - NSD for me today and yesterday and also hopefully tomorrow. Also a no baking day for a change but did make some more strawberry jam yesterday and also some lemon marmalade to use up some more of the whoopsied lemons I had. I had a look at the silver spoon website as had been using their jam sugar for the strawberry jam and saw a recipe for crushed peach preserve which might be worth a try as is made with tinned peach slices and jam sugar (or granulated sugar and pectin) and I usually have peach slices as they are often on offer http://www.silverspoon.co.uk/home/recipes/05/crushed-peach-preserve

Well today should have been a no spend day but it all fell apart. When I picked up my little one from the childminder I was told that she had been sick after eating her food. This is nothing new as although she's 18 months old she still suffers from reflux and she has a very delicate stomach (every so often it 'shuts down' and rejects all food). Also when she has a cold or a runny nose it makes the reflux worse and causes her to have an upset tummy. We were doing really well and hadn't had anything serious (we ended up in hospital last time) until today. As a result we need to go on a 'dry' diet to settle her tummy back down.
So, I had to go out and get her something other than the crackers we have at home. hopefully we've caught it in time and will be able to settle her tummy within a few days. :undecided'Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.'

- Shelled the broad bean/peas -fending off hubby from the peas
- Have decided to make the 2 courgette/marrows into a casserole/ratatouille thing with garlic, tomatoes, mushrooms peppers and some soya beans i have just put to soak.... which i think i will do with some gnocci i have in the cupboard
- Hubby has requested luxury cauliflower cheese tomorrow... so i will serve that with steamed potatoes, and lots of beans

Hugs to MrsM - so good to have you back with us we have missed your wonderful posts.
4 days into my new job and I am so looking forward to friday night:D I haven't felt so tired in years. Tonight was the first time this week that I have managed to cook a proper meal for DS and OH - Chilli (soya mince and grated carrot to pad out the mince - OH says no oats as he thinks its savoury porridge). I think I'm going to have to spend a few hours this weekend doing a bit of advance prep for next week:rotfl:
Been to Mr A this evening but no woopsies to be had, so just got a few basics, I have been doing quite well on the challenge this month - I managed to get a few bargains yesterday as I went to an area of town with w**k that has lots of small independant shops and came home with some really good fruit and veg.
Well I shall update my sig and go to bed before I fall asleep in my chair;)0 -
Hi all.
denisefowler not nosey at all-Money not good enough to cover childcare and really want to spend more time with girls. Had to work after dd1(part-time) but thanks to this site have now been able to stop-going to be very tight but think its worth it. :-)
Hi tq16 - It will definitly be worth it. I had to (still have to) work while mine were babes, and I'm much rather have been at home. It's so expensive now to pay for childcare too, so good luck to you, enjoy it while you can....:DLBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -

Chocolate Cake without eggs
Melt in a pan
3 oz of butter
1 Tbsp golden syrup
Mix together
8 oz plain flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 oz cocoa
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp bicarb
2 oz sugar
Stir in butter and syrup mixture
Add about 1/2 pt of warm water to give a very soft mixture.
Spoon into 2 greased sandwich tins.
Bake for about 30 mins at 180c
WACKY CHOCOLATE CAKE
1½ cups pl flour
1 tsp bicarb of soda
1 cup sugar
3 tbsp cocoa
½ tsp salt
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp vinegar
1 cup water
Oven 160°C/ gas 3
Sift together first 5 ingredients
Make 3 wells in flour mixture
Put oil in 1, vanilla in 1 and vinegar in the last.
Pour the water over the top.
Mix until just blended
Bake in a 9” square or 2 1lb loaf tins for 40 minutes.
This is a really moist choc cake which doesn't even really need frosting and can be frozen.
You could leave out the choc and add an extra tablespoon of flour and some vanilla essence. They do have a tendancy to crack slightly on the top. Ive tried the wacky one with the choc and its the most moist choc cake Ive ever had. I coated it in a bar of 23p value chocolate. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
