  • Serves me right for being smug. Oh has just come back having just done a bit of shopping on the way back from the gym to save me some time!! He bought some nan breads (which I bought as well), some margarine (which I bought as well), a bottle of wine (I bought lager) and various other things he just fancied!!

Trouble is I did tell him before he went out what was on my shopping list - but he forgot:mad:
Forgot to say thanks for the advice about the feed the family for a fiver thread - I'm just off there now.

I've got a copy of that book with the long title---"How to feed your whole family a healthy, balanced diet...."etc---from the library today. Thought it best to have a squizz before paying out, but didn't realise that I had to pay 50p to reserve a copy:mad: I've quite a list odf books to check out, so might go shnozzing around Waterstones or summat instead... ...but then I'd end up paying a fortune for the car-park...hmmph...this mse-ing can give you a headache!

Sian the Green You can replace the milk powder with some milk if you like.

BigMummaF If you reserve online there isn't usually a charge ;) Look for your local county council website for a link to the library website.

Today I've been working out costs of different meals that I make. Dinner tonight was meatballs & pasta. Cost per portion: 35p :) When I do pasta bolognaise it costs 41p per portion, and chilli & rice costs 45p per portion. :j

  • Hi Everyone!!
Just caught up on posts. NSD yesterday and today.
Floxxie-A poem is a great gift for a teacher. Yesterday I got a lovely poster from a little lad (he's off now on holiday) entitled 'My Teacher' , handmade then laminated... He'd written lots of lovely things but my favourite was 'My teacher taught me to read, I love books now, Thank You'. Also got a photo of the lad and I on Charity Fun Day... Both hung up in my kitchen now and are priceless.

Mouche-Enjoy your Wii-great to save up for things isn't it!!

Have a good evening everyone. Was off to my cousin's party...but have just rung to say I'm not feeling 100 %. Sometimes you just have to listen to your body saying 'rest now' .

Well I have added today on to my list of NSD's as not going ANYWHERE tonight and it was a NSD in grocery terms (hairdo money came from another budget and was well needed)! Made lovely toad in the hole for dinner- using 4 massive cumberland sausages (10 Truly Irresistible ones from Coop, reduced to £1.50), with tatties, a pile of carrots (huge bag from Lidls for about 69p) and a cauliflower (reduced to 30p in the Coop). Followed by muffins and ice-cream (using my blueberries which were £2.99 to £1.99 to 99p for the 225g carton from the Coop).
Not the cheapest but certainly not too bad either for a nice Saturday treat tea.
Also have about 3 big and 6 small muffins left, plus 2 potatoes and some cauliflower which I will add to the remains of yesterdays Jalfrezi and eat for my tea (hmmmm just reread this and have to say its TOMORROWS tea, not a second tea tonight- am not that greedy  ) as DH will be out. Not sure what DS will have as he only wants things he can pick up and feed himself just now!!
Not done a strict meal plan for this week as yet but we still have the list of freezer contents so will plan a day or so ahead and aim to use all leftovers.

PS any uses for asparagus other than wrapping in parma with parmesan ?
