Hi, not a great start. Broke down on the Skye bridge and had to be recovered. Think its the cam belt. AA are trying to wriggle out of paying for it, will never deal with that company again. I pay a monthly premium to cover major faults malfunction. Using a hire car to get home until this gets sorted. Really just want to get home. Weather is typical Skye ie wet!!!

My sympathy for a rotten journey, cars are such a pain. You must be exhausted after all that traveling. Hope you've got your feet up.

  • Oh dear L - not the news I was hoping for on here.

Horrid here too - islands are wet, windy, cold miserable places, dunno why I live on one!

I hope you get home OK and warm up - poor you.

Am home with the hire car who's is now christened Percy Polo, weather was awful. I hate driving in snow, did get slightly lost on the Edinburgh bypass and was heading back towards Glasgow at one point. So glad to be home. Funeral went well, really glad I made the effort and got to say goodbye however her partner wasn't very nice towards my travelling companion and I'm unsure whether I'll go up again. We'll see. Will have to go to Kyle of Lochalsh to get my car back in a couple of weeks, whether I go that bit further remains to be seen.

Going to have to fight the AA. I pay a premium to cover major parts, which includes the timing belt. I've had to send in proof of having it changed at 70,000 (preferably written in blood). To get my car relayed back down here would cost £88 to upgrade, first 50 miles free and then £2.50 per mile afterwards, so that would work out at £610 plus the upgrade. Not a happy bunny.

  • Oh hun sorry you had such a beastie journey! Hope you are ok . I'm with the AA too and have similar policy. Had to call them when my exhaust fell off and they had to use wire to fix it as didn't have the part and had to pay garage to fix it. Hope your journey to get the car is better.
It's snowing here today but isn't lying thank goodness

Hi lucielle - sorry to hear about your aunt. Having car trouble on top must be the last straw. We have one of those paid for bank accounts which at the time was offering top of the range RAC recovery so we get that. It includes rescue even from home. Hope you manage to get things sorted
