I'm a lurker on your diary, am so sorry to read about your ds1. Hope that the meeting goes ok today, you're commended for keeping so calm, I would be livid.0

Hope things went your way at school and that your DS is starting to feel better.

Hi Lucielle, just catching up on your diary and saw the business with your DS - poor lad, I hope that the situation with his teeth turns out not to be so bad as first thought. Whatever the background to the situation it will hopefully have taught the other lad/s involved how badly wrong even mucking about can go if taken too far.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Decisions, decisions, decisions. God this is such a horrible mess! What to do? Have had the meeting at school and they were very good and would support us in any decision we made. It does seem to be horseplay got out of control and gone very wrong. This is what I thought in the first place. However it doesn't escape that fact that our son has been assulted. It doesn't change the fact that down the line our son could potentially lose 4 teeth. We have to take time off work to take him for various different appointments and he is in his GCSE year.
The school have suspended 3 boys for 3 days (2 of them admitted doing it to other boys) and they have no breaks or dinnertimes til 1/2 term. They have apologised for sending him to hospital on his own which we have accepted. The headteacher has talked to his staff to ensure that if the situation arose again somebody would be able to go.
DS1 doesn't want to take it further. Who is to say that further down the line he might get headaches or something else that pops up as a result of this. When its costing him x amount to get his teeth put right and he turns round and says why didn't you take it further? we say you didn't want to, his reply might be well I was just a kid and you shouldn't of listened to me. HELP!
We phoned a solicitor on Friday but are waiting for them to ring back.

Just a thought Lucielle but as your son does not want to press charges and it was horse play gone wrong, could you let the school punish the boys and then try and claim compensation through the schools insurance so your son has money for any future costs for his injuries? They will definately have insurance and it did happen on their premises in school and in school time.
That way your son would be happy that the police are not involved and you would be happy as parents that you had made sure this did not affect his finances and his appearance in the future.
Good luck0 -
Blimey. Lots happened in a very short space of time. I know you have lots on your mind but a few things leap out at me. Fristly your son is GCSE age. I'm assuming all three of the culprits are a similar age so first things first. There are pranks and there are pranks. Before your son passed out he would have fought them because of discomfort, fought some more as an animalistic reponse becasue he couldn't breathe. All the while he would have been changing colour from pink to red to grey to blue. The three culprits in question observed this. If they've done it before to others then they knew exactly what was going on. This was no prank. It was intentional and pre-meditated. What would have happened if they'd left your son somewhere quiet and he wasn't found for some time? Had the parents of the previous victims gone to the police would this have happened to your son? Is three days exclusion from school and a loss of their playtime for a couple of weeks really sufficient punishment for mutilating your son?Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
