Ok....stressful day. Managed to get into work early as OH on nights. So got home earlier. Had various phone calls to make. Whilst on the phone (OH who was out) got a call from DS1s school to say he had been taken to hospital by ambulance with facial injuries. As he was out and nearer he went to the hospital.

I waited at home and contacted the school to find out what was going on. It appears that Ds has been held in a headlock and pressure put on his neck so he passed out/lost conciouness (sp) whatever and was then dropped onto the ground causing these injuries. A teacher put him in the recovery position as there was blood everywhere and he was obviously in shock. He sent for help and called 999.

DS1 was taken to hospital on his own (one way of looking at this is that at least he was in safe hands if anything happened) but I am not very happy at them leaving a 14 year old by himself. The teacher has found the boy who did it who apparently was very shaken up (bless) and his parents have been told.

DS1 has pushed his teeth through the skin under his lips and got stitches on the inside of his mouth and the outside. His front teeth are wobbly, 1 has cracked and another has been pushed back up into his gum. He nearly passed out having an x-ray. He has got lips to rival Mick Jagger and looks a right mess. We have to get an urgent dental appointment tomorrow to try and get some caps/crowns put on and the wobbly ones strapped up.

We are debsting wether to get the police involved. DS1 doesn't want us to as he has to go to school. The school wont want us to as they will have to get OFSTED involved. Part of me feels like it was boys going too far and the other wants to kill.

It also brought home how crappy life is with debt, as I was taking the childrens dinner money to pay for the car parking fees at the hospital because all I had was coppers in my purse. Feeling absolutely shattered but got ebay parcels to post so best get on.

  • Hi Thought I wouldn't read and run. I would not be very pleased if my son was left on his own. A teacher should of been with him he was in their care so they are responsible. Thinking of you hugs to you all.

    Thanks for reading.

Thinking about arranging a meeting with school to get things sorted. Main thing at the moment is to get his teeth looked at and get the tru extent of the damage.

Hmm - think I'd have gone on the line of kill ! DS1 will have caps, crowns etc for life

Was it retaliation or deliberate ? Can't believe they sent him to hospital on his own, surely whilst at school he is in their care ?

Sorry to hear about your DS Lucielle. That is absoluetly awful.Hope he recovers soon.

As for getting the police involved ..if the boys were play fighting then no.
But,if it was bullying or intentionally done to harm your son ..then I'd definitely get the police involved!!!
Sending him on his own without anybody was out of order on the schools part as well.

OH took DS1 to the dentist, it looks like 3 years down the line he will lose 3 front teeth which will probably cost in the region of 10k to put right (at that time). I was hoping to have a meeting with the school. In the meantime the dentist phoned back to say he had been looking into his x-rays further and reading up and he thought a visit to the dental hospital was in order as this tooth isn't going to come back down.

We are going down the police route and they are coming later for a chat. Have spoken to school who are proving supportive (much to my surprise) and told them we are talking to the police.

OH is taking another night off work so the debt busting is not going to be good. Feeling quite tired.

    hi
just catching up with you dairy

    huge hugs TO YOU ALL
    {SORRY BABY IS BEOING a pauin}

have to agree with taxi's post,,
    if bullying,,,police route
if playing got out of hand,,,school route

pitty you dont live in ireland you could sue them for around €30k plus bills

as for your sons medical expenses,,,,i would have thought that the school would have to accept responsibility for the "" accident """ and their insurance company should pay the bills????

and as for them not sending someone with him to the hospital,,,,,has to be near criminal in its self!!!!

hope this is all sorted out very quickly,,,,and your son makes a quick recovery,,and bounces back to his normal self,,,
    s x x x

Hugs Lucielle, sounds like youre all having a rough time of it. Hope your son is feeling a bit better today I bet his mouth is so sore.
I think youre quite right too I would be mad as well especially letting him go in the ambulance without a teacher. Honestly these schools are forever banging on about who's responsibility everything is, surely that was their responsibility whilst he was at school!!!
Hope you get things sorted, my son fell at school a couple of years ago and will need a veneer on his tooth but the dentist said that it will be better to wait until his mouth/teeth have all stopped growing. Boys and football that was and on the last day before Xmas!
Anyway enough of me prattling on, hope all is a bit better today. Hugs
