Redundant after 2 years +/-1 day
Hi, My fixed-term contract finishes exactly after 2 years. According to DWP, non-renewal of fixed-term-contract is equivalent in law to redundancy, so I wonder if I have a right to redundancy payment. To be precise, my contract started on 1 October 2015, and will end 30 September 2017. As I see it, this is exactly 2 years…

New employer not offering pension - help!
Hi all I left my previous employer in early Jan - with whom I had a company pension with a well known provider, BlackRock. Going from what was a large, established regional employer to a small startup business, I was always expecting teething problems. However, since starting my colleagues and I have been asking our boss…

Redundant 9 days before qualifying for pay
I'm being made redundant having worked for the company [STRIKE]just short of 23 weeks[/STRIKE] just short of 2 years - 9 days short qualifying for redundancy pay (min of 2 years required). It does seem a bit unfair to not receive any pay - particularly as the company a few months ago asked everyone to take a pay cut of 10%…

Employer won't give a final figure
Hi there I work for Tesco, and have taken voluntary redundancy. However they will not provide me with a final settlement figure? I have asked HR twice and my store manager to get one for me. They say it can't be done and all they can do is tell me how many weeks I'm entitled to. I looked on Direct Gov and it says... A…

Unfair Dismissal Tribunal
Here is the short of the story: I got the sack for gross misconduct. It involves a sum of money that it is alleged I stole. There was no cctv or witnesses so the case had to go on probability. The company decided there was enough evidence to go through and dismiss me. The company did not provide documents I requested at…

At the moment we are going through redundancy consultation because of a restructure. We have been ring-fenced for one "new" position as our section will now no longer exist. Being made redundant - unfair dismissal?
Hi, I have been working for a company for 6 years. Last Thursday, I was called into a meeting and informed that my job was at risk of redundancy and that I wasn't allowed into the office until the following Thursday (yesterday) for my first consultation meeting. The reason they gave for the redundancy is that business has…

Redundancy
I'm being made redundant after four years. Is that even legal? There is no way they can cover all the work I do and will have to bring in freelancers to do it but they will cost them much less... I'm not the only one, others have also been targeted but on a one by one basis rather then a proper redundancy pool. They are…

Voluntary Redundancy Question

Unfair redundancy
myself and a colleague have been put at risk of redudancy. We feel we have been unfairly targeted because of our age. We are in our 40s and 50s and together we have almost 50 Years' professional experience. We are also two of the longest serving. We are two of around eight people doing the same job - many of whom are on…
