Redundancy pay and notice period extension

I am hoping someone has an answer for this. My company has decided to make our entire department redundant. The agreed package is supposed to be paid next week, and our department is meant to be closed at the end of the month. However, it's become clear that for a few of us, the work we need to complete will not be done in time. HR would like to extend our notice period by two months.
My question is can I still be paid redundancy next week tax free, and then complete the notice of two months or must they hold off payment until the last payslip?
TIA

No. In two months there may be no redundancies required. As you have shown, things can change. Redundancy payments are made after someone is redundant. You aren't. Nobody is redundant until the last second of their notice is gone, and employers are legally obliged to not make people redundant unless there is no other alternative. Why?0
