Battery problem, Nissan Almera
My battery warning light came on today. When I got it home I found that the battery was hissing, and oozing acid from the top (I have diluted this and cleared it up so it doesn't dissolve the mounting plate). I guess my voltage regulator's gone wrong? The warning light went off when ticking over at traffic lights,…

Quote for full service, front brake pads and new cambelt quote
I have a 2002 VW Polo TDI. Today i received a quote from an independent garage offering to do the service, change the front break pads and fit a new cambelt kit for £350. Do you think this quote is reasonable? I bought my car from new so have never changed the cambelt or the break pads yet on the car. The car has 38,500…

Is now the time to buy a new car?
I read on Sky News today that *now* is the time to buy a new car, because dealers are offering massive discounts as they can't shift the stock. I was planning on buying a new (or nearly new) car in about a year, but I'm wondering if I should do it sooner, given the current market. I currently have a Citroen Xsara Picasso,…

BMW Z4 - changing run flat tyres
Anyone know if I can just change the runflats on my 53 reg Z4 for non-runflats as it'll be a) considerably cheaper and b) probably a better ride. It has 18" BMW 5-star alloys on. cheers.

Repairs and padding
I took my car in for some repairs which I thought would be quite simple, thought it needed a pipe replacing. They kept it to have a look at it and called me to say I needed a lot more than a pipe replacing and would cost me £180! I've no idea about cars so I just had to accept it. When I got to the garage the guy gave me a…

Personal Injury for a Road Accident - help?!
Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this so please direct me if I'm wrong. A month ago I was crossing the road, when a car that had been standing at a red traffic light suddenly reversed into me at speed (i'm hoping it was nothing personal!). I normally hate the idea of those personal injury claims but after…

OH is after small 5dr auto..
Hi, I've gone square-eyed from the endless searching on autotrader. SWMBO is after a newish small 5dr (full) auto for around £5k. She quite likes the new corsa and yaris, but these don't appear to go for anything under £6k. Was wondering if these sell much cheaper at auction? anyone know what they fetch at auction? Is…

Hyundai Getz High level brake light
In true Money saving style (to save exorbitant garage charges) can any one tell me how to remove the casing of the Getz High level brake light to change the bulb. I can see no obvious way of doing it and that is the only bulb the handbook does not give instuctions for.

Getting rid of a non-runner
