Hi, I rent a new-build flat which has electric wall air heaters and only peak rate electricity. The heaters are really expensive to run. Would it be cheaper to get some other type of electric heater and plug it into the mains? What type would you recommend? Thanks

I have a couple of flats, and rather unfortunately in both it looks like the boilers are on the way out. Combining a gos/oil boiler into a solid fuel system
Morning, I have a four-bed detached house in the middle of cold, bleak Cumbria. At the moment it's heated with a Charwood multifuel stove which heats both the hot water and the radiators. Providing there's a fire lit, it's a complete central heating system, with thermostat control which, once everything's at the desired…

Hot Water Heating - how to reduce costs?
Good morning, I currently have an all electric heating system and the hot water is heated in a large tank with an element at the top and an element at the bottom. Both of these sources are on the cheap rate, however just using the top immersion provides enough hot water. In the summer I have turned all my other heating off…

Replacing Ideal boiler's PCB
Hi, My Ideal Isar HE24 boiler is broken and I've been told the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) needs replacing. There are two in the boiler - a main and a small one, costing around £180 and £150. I've been told by a local plumbing firm that its best to replace them both at the same time rather than just the faulty one. Does…

Does oil central heating devalue a property?
I've found a couple of houses I'm interested in, but they have oil-fired CH. Should I put in a lower offer because of this? They are on the outskirts of a town which does have mains gas.

Multfuel fire – anyone used woodpellets ? (troubleshooting)
Hello all, Had a Gentleman from the local sawmill come by and try to sway me away from our local arborologist who has supplied our wood so far.
