Old-style student loans (late-90s)
Hello, Pleased to join after some tech glitches! I have a question re: 'old style' student loans taken out in the late-90s. Googling this, you get contradictory info: 'Student debt is not like other debt, as anything remaining after 30 years is wiped. ... The interest charged on the loan could make the difference between…

Thesis Servicing / SLC
I have a number of pre-1998 student loans. I have always deferred them and for many years, the deferment was straight forward and accepted. A number of years ago, Thesis took over the "servicing" of these loans. it is a sham though. Any deferment goes to SLC who make the decision and the convoluted timescales for letters /…

Bamboo Loan - early repayment shock
I took out a 24 month, £2,000 loan with this company in 2020. The interest was 69.9%, and knowing this I had planned to repay the loan early. Upfront, this company charge the fixed interest to the front of the term, and this £2,000 loan meant I owed a total of just over £3,300. After making my payments for 13 months I had…
