What are the tax implications for paying your children's student loan post study?
I have been travelling overseas for the past year. Due to securing a new job in Australia, the SLC have written to advise me that I now need to begin repaying my loan again. As the loan is no longer repaid via my pay check (as in the UK system), I am required to bank transfer the funds to SLC. Due to international transfer…

Question about early repayment on halifax loan
Hi all, I've got a halifax loan with a balance of around £15564 (5.9% apr). I was looking to settle this loan early, and when I use their early closure calculator it says if I settle early the figure is £16133 saving £1650 on interest. However, if I use the 'pay extra from your loan' and put in a figure of £15000 it says…

Switching Loan to a cheaper rate.
Dunno if its possible so looking for advice. Currently got a loan but the rate is poor (13.1%). Was looking at how much I would save by switching to another provider, currently 6.2% for >£7500 and 7.3% for < £7500. My credit rating is pretty good and I normally get the good APR when applying for these things. The issue I…

B&Q 0% via creation - very confused
Sorting out a new kitchen and B&Q now use creation finance. They (B&Q) have told me to apply before hand but when I do I can't see any 0% offer, and they will offer me £5k at 17.9%. I've checked by credit score in clearscore and it's 1000/1000. It can't get better. Considering I have no mortgage and a good salary, I'm even…

Loan for solar panels on house
Sorry if this has been asked before but I wanted to see if anyone has taken out a loan for solar panels and how it worked out. My thinking is to take a loan for £10-15k and what I would have paid for the electric bill would partially pay the loan instead. This time of year my electric bill is approximately £85 per month. I…
