ISA Question and Advice
Hello, I have an ISA with Bank of Scotland. My ISA doesn't mature until the 6th of May which means the rate will be a lot worse by then. However, a letter will be sent to me a few weeks from now which asks what I want to do for this tax year and I am planning to continue the ISA and add 3600, is it possible for me to get…

Quick question about transferring ISA
I have maxed out my ISA allocation this year with HSBC. At the time they had a competitive 6.25% interest rate which is now a derisory 1.25%. It seems my best option would be to transfer the HSBC ISA to the Natwest e-ISA which is currently at 3.25%, but then I would also want to open a new account at Barclays for this…

ISA Countdown

I mean is there a cool off period were you have to havve the account opened for a few weeks?

Getting allowance into Lloyds ISA
Hi I've currently got a Lloyds Fixed Rate ISA and wish to deposit my new tax year's allowance into it as soon as possible. I don't have a current account or any other accounts with Lloyds, but it looks like I can open up an esavings account via the online banking. I was wondering if I did so and put the allowance into…

Any educated guesses for "New" April ISA's
The banks seem to casting around for the last dregs of this tax years ISA money? Does anyone know what is likely to happen in the new tax year? Will there be a flurry of new ISA accounts appear in an attempt to rake in as much money as quickly as possible. I ask as have several years of cash ISA's currently earning 1.1%…

Is it legal for Lloyds to offer the fixed rate Isa to selected existing customers ?
Background - LloydsTsb are offering a fixed rate for 2009/2010 to existing customers who already have an isa with them. HOWEVER some customers are receiving the offer ( to be accepted by 9th Feb ) and lots of other customers aren't. I am one who hasn't been made the offer. So this is a genuine question - is this legal ? ie…

Early applications for ISA's
I went to the Abbey today and they told me that I can apply for an ISA for the next tax year 2009/10 early with them. I was told to take my passport and proof of NI. Do I need anything else like a cheque? Is there anywhere else where you can apply early?

ISAs Confuse me, help!
I've currently got an ISA with Ing Direct. Complete with their miserly 1.5% interest rate. I'm looking to switch the total balance to a new provider. This whole process confuses me somewhat. I think the best one to go with seems to be the Natwest e-ISA. Their rate of 3.25% (AER Variable) seems to be the best that accepts…

How is a 2% Variable Award Calculated
Just moved my Alliance & Leicester ISA to their Direct ISA Issue 5. Did it in the branch – another waste of an hour! But this years allowance I put in the Reward ISA which is 1.50% (variable) with a 2% reward if you leave it in there for 12 months In the small print I noticed the reward is ‘variable’ But what amazed me was…

HSBC Mysterious Fixed Rate ISA
No details on their website about this account. However their interest rate list displays this account as paying 3.1% on maturity. Any idea how one might open this account? Is it possible to transfer from cash e-ISA? And how long might the term be?

Do I need a cash ISA?
My question is whether there is any advantage in my starting ISA savings this week. I'm 59 years and hope to return to employment (basic tax rate) sometime this year. I have £30,000 in a 50+ access saver paying 6.4% gross - this first year rate will drop substantially (I expect) in May this year. I also have £45,000 in a 1…

My 08-09 ISA Bond expires 19/04/09 - advice please
Hi all, I've been using this site for a year or two, but never needed to ask anything, but now I thought I'd tap into the vast knowledge on here. I invested 10k in a "Nationwide Fixed Rate ISA Bond" in April 2008 which of course is now going to mature. It had an interest rate of 6.15% gross and the estimated fund will be…

Paying in and opening new ISAs when living abroad?
I've recently discovered that - living abroad, as I do now, in Hong Kong - I'm not allowed to add money to, or open a new, ISA (although I'm not obliged to close any existing ISA). The consequences of opening a new one are unclear - would it simply be shut down if you change your permanent address? (mine is still in the…

HSBC now allow transfer to e-ISA
I just spotted this on their Cash e-ISA page: hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/savings/cash-e-isa "Transfer in from other Cash ISA providers accepted" Which seems to be a very recent policy, as previously you could only transfer into their regular ISA. I've just got off the phone with them. They said I can transfer an ISA from…

What'll happen to top paying variable ISA's - and...
I need now to transfer my YBS e-ISA as it is about to drop, to something like the NatWest one at 3.51% variable. Bit of a pain having to open another account before I can do that though. Also what stops them dropping the rate like a stone after not very long to equal any other variable rate ISA. I'm a little concerned…

Transfer from a cash ISA to a new one
Hi, I have a cash ISA with C&G that I have had for about 5 years. Ive just noticed that the interest rate is crap and would like to transfer it to another one. Which should I choose? I dont tend to touch the money very often although we are doing home improvements this year so may have to. I have put in my maximum amount…

ING ISA, Concern over changes
Greetings, I just recieved an email from ING stating that their ISA's will now be operating yearly, and then no more funds can be added for the next year unless you open a new ISA. So, this basically means £3600 maximum in each annual ISA account opened. Surely this limits the interest we can all make by not enabling…

Confusion reigns in S&S ISA land
Hi, I have been having a bit of an ongoing battle with a S&S ISA provider with regard to holding U.S listed ETF's in my self select ISA. Long story short, I phoned up and quizzed their customer services prior to opening an account, provided them with a few examples of products I wished to hold, and was told that this was…

Bradford & Bingley - 1 year fixed rate ISA
Depressed by Husbands very miserable rates on HSBC cash ISA. Spotted Bradford & Bingley's 2.80% rate guaranteed for 1 year. No cash withdrawals or further desposits allowed. They allow transfers from existing ISAs. Does it sound like a good deal?
