Anyone use a desiccant dehumidifier?
Hi I just wondered if anyone has any opinions on desiccant dehumidifiers. I understand the normal refrigerant ones are rated at 30 degrees celsius and do not work well at low temps. My flat is currently at 10 degrees and 90% relative humidity. I have no condensation problems at all but wonder about the humidity. I should…

Worth having British Gas cover plan?
Does anyone think it's worth paying for the call out cover that British Gas advertises? They say you can get faults repaired and peace of mind especially in the winter months. Having a 24 hr help line sounds good, but it doesn't say in the adverts how long you may have to wait for someone to actually come out and fix the…

Hubby is trying to insulate the loft, not a DIY man, a bit concerned of his skills!! I have…

Lawn mower for sloping garden?
Are front garden is on a slope, with a tree in the centre and fairly small (size of four cars). Are rear garden is flat, again fairly small (about the same size as the front). I hate mowing, so the grass often gets quite long before I end up doing it. I am not bothered about the finish, as long as it's cut, so hover or…

Loft insulation
Evening all I'm about to increase the lagging in the loft (currently about 50-60 mm thick, standard itchy stuff :D ). According to various sources it should be 200-300mm thick. Not a problem, easy enough to do, but, like most people I use the loft for storing various bits of tat. To lay the insulation properly I'll have to…
