I have a few door frames which look horrible and the doors are even worst.
Someone said I need to rub it down and re-paint, I do not have the energy, any
easier way of doing this pls.
kind regards

There are loads of easy power sanders you can use if you don't have any energy to hand sand the frames and doors. In some cases you don't have to sand it down to bare wood, you can rub it down to get a keyed surface, then prime and paint it. I personally would take them right back to bare wood if you want to do a proper, longlasting job that looks good.0

You could always pay for someone else to do it.
And no, I'm not being funny, as I appreciate some people may have a medical condition that means they can't do this sort of physical work.
There is no easier way if you want it to look nice as good preparation is the only way to a good job.
Do you have any friends who are good at DIY who are willing to help you out?0 -
If you can get someone to take them off you can get them dipped and stripped but this seems to change the colour of the wood (or at least it did in our case).
You could use a heat gun or a paint stripper which reduce the amount of effort but beware of the fumes if you use a paint stripper.0 -
i prefer to burn it off rather than use chemical stripper (very messy). but any prep work is hard work.
easy way is to just give it a mild rubbing down to get a nice key. break the job into smaller parts, itll make it easy then.
do one door frame per hour, with a tea break in between.Get some gorm.0 -
Many thanks for all your help, getting it done is expensive. I have borrowed a heat gun, grinder and a sander. I have a feeling that I may regret using these as it will make a lot of mess.
I will try lightly sanding and then put a couple of coats of gloss paint, and see what happens.

I'm told that washing down with sugar soap is a good idea, to remove old grease, grime etc. Not implying that your dirty or anything, its just inevitable that old paintwork accumulates all sorts, even old polish. Its cheap, quick, and easy, so nothing much to lose.0
