Co-op younity powershare
Wondered if anyone had seen any more detail about this ? https://www.younity.coop/introducing-powershare looks similar to ripple but unsure if potentially better or worse? https://www.companyinsight.co.uk/co-op-energy-calls-on-people-to-join-green-community-power-revolution/

Everyone talks about solar, what about wind turbines?
Hi all Wanted to guage people's thoughts on the availability/viability of wind turbines at home. Has anyone had them installed? Do they play nice with solar being installed? Are the "quiet" turbines actually quiet? I am asking as it's abnormally windy where we live and I think for an all day generation it would be…

Getting the SEG!!!
I am almost now at the point where I will be the proud owner - when the DNO get round to it - of a G99 form entitling me to apply for the SEG tariff. However. My dad has been trying to do this with Octopus recently and had the devil of a time (they seem unable to understand that he is not trying to change supplier and keep…

Free or discounted solar PV panels for PIP & DLA (child) claimants?
I’ve seen some adverts for free or discounted solar PV panels recently if you are in receipt of PIP or DLA (non income based benefits). Has anyone on the forum received these for free or at a discounted rate and if so, how long did the process take?

Octopus
When I first started looking at this forum, it seemed that every other post had an Octopus referral link in the bottom. I’ve now signed up so I can get the EV tarriff when the car arrives, and have the opportunity to retrospectively put in a referral code. Of course, I now can’t find any. Would anyone with a current code…

Solar Installation Costs - Advice Please
Hi - I'm hoping someone can comment regarding solar installation costs, based on the following: I've been quoted £20k for 19 panels (Jinko - 7kW system) + 9.5kW GivEnergy battery, the other quote I received was £30k for a similar system and so appeared to be reasonable. However... * Looking at the Midsummer site the cost…

Yet another battery / no battery system
I've got a couple of quotes that i'm trying to choose between 8kW panels (20x400) - probably split over S and W facing 6kW* Growatt hybrid inverter £8,500 installed Or the same as the above but with a 6.5kW battery installed for an extra £3k. I work from home and use a minimum of 400kWh a month during the summer and 650kWh…

PV installation in 3-5 weeks. Too good to be true?
Hello, I have a quote for a PV system from an installer who says he has the batteries in stock and, after site inspection, expects to install within 3-5 weeks. The quote is £8700 for supply and installation of a 3.8kWh system including: Solax x1 G4 Hybrid 3.7 inverter Solax triple power HV 5.8 Kw battery 10x JA Solar 380 W…

My Solar setup, am I using it efficiently ? Luxpower ACS3.6
I have had my solar setup since Feb 21 and I've been happy with it but I get clipping and wanted to know how best to maximise my setup or is it fine as it is. I have 12xJa Solar panels 455w each (5460w total) and they in turn are connected to Enphase IQ7+ microinverters, when I use my enphase solar production monitor I…

Rate my Solar Quote time
Hi all. Just had a quote through from a solar install company, and I'm pitching in the dark as to whether this is a good quote or not. As follows. We have an East / West roof, so this is for panels on both the front and the back roofs. Back can carry more than the front (10-5 split) 6kwp system (4kwp on the back, 2kwp on…

Usage verses what's generated
Ok, help please, am I being too simplistic? My 6 bed household uses approx 9000 kw electric a year. My FIT system generates approx 1790 kW less 500 going to grid, a year. If I buy 3x2.4 batteries =7200 kw and connect to system, alongside the FIT, do I only have to pay for the 528 kw (approx)? Thx

Is UK hydro feasible?
Every country has rivers and the main ones flow 24/7, but yet I have rarely read about generating electricity from rivers. We must have some hydro, how much?

Notify energy provider
I’ve recently had solar panels installed. I still have to old type meter which is now going backwards during the day. question. I don’t have a smart meter, but am I obligated to inform my energy provider that now have solar energy ? I’m not interested in SEG as it’s more beneficial to keep the old meter going backwards…

Overwhelmed by Tariff Options (Solar 3844 kWh/Y and scalable Battery 14.5kWh) due October
I humbly ask for guidance. I can build a passable spreadsheet. I understand the bell curve for generation over the year. We use approx 4400 kWh of electricity a year and I have a PHEV. Just on using the energy we generate, store and use alone, I know we'll save £2500+ with the way the prices are headed. What I can't begin…

Jackery portable power
Wwondering if anyone with solar panels is using a Jackery portable power bank(or similar) to charge up during *green hand” periods for use once you stop generating? I know they come in different “sizes” and sound quite pricey to purchase but I thought it might be handy should rationing or power outage happens this winter?

Rate my quote
I have been doing some research and getting my first few quotes in for a modest sized solar PV and battery setup. How do people feel about this offer 2.6kW PV panels 5kW battery 8kW inverter £10k fully installed with all the DNO stuff, etc. Small consumption <2kWh per year. I do not 100% understand the decision on the…
