Debt Help
Hi all, I made a post not long ago regarding my situation. I have since taken the advice from the forumites and started my debt management… At the moment it’s DIY, I haven’t spoken to Stepchange or any other DMP providers. I am wondering what next step I should take? I have cancelled the direct debit to the loan and credit…

Partial Settlement Offers, one refused, enough to pay another one in full
Hello, I am on a DMP with 3 loans and offered the same percentage to the 3 of them for full and final settlement. 1 of them refused my offer and asked for a higher percentage. As they refused, it means the share I have offered to them would be enough to pay one of the debts off completely. Can I pay off a debt in full with…

Quandary
I took up an IVA in 2020 after getting into some quite bad credit card debt. Unfortunately I let it slide due to the country coming out of the lockdowns and the price of everything booming, petrol, groceries and everything went through the roof at a time I was expected to pay quite a higher rate for the last two years of…

Security Clearance and Credit
I am required to obtain Security Clearance at work. I have been in an IVA about 7 years ago, but there is nothing negative or my Experian or Equifax credit reports. Would I be required to explain this if it will not come up via a credit search? Would historical things likely hinder me? In a totally different financial…

PayPal Negative Balance and Debt
Hello! I made a similar topic on another forum, but I figured out that asking as many people as possible could only help. Last week I was gambling and lost control. I gambled away all of my savings (I have already spoken with GamCare about that). On top of that, PayPal (via Direct Debit) somehow managed to debit me several…

Stepchange & DMP
Hi, I have been thinking about starting a DMP with Stepchange, and have filled the forms in. They say I will be debt free in 2 years. Debt is just over £16k. Credit cards x3, catalogue, next, creation x 2 (one of those payments finishes in September) & overdraft. I make the minimum payments each month, or just over. The…

If I default CC will they contact my employer?
This is my first post for a long time (I used to belong to this forum about 10 years ago but forgot my details!) I am a few years away from retirement but I'm struggling to pay off a particular debt. My health isn't the best right now and I also need to help my siblings out with my elderly parents. So retirement can't come…

Cabot calling my workplace!
Hello First post, but been lurking around this brilliant forum for a while looking into solutions for some debt problems. I have recently started the popular approach of stopping payments and waiting for defaults, and seeing where it goes from there. Two of my creditors, Marbles and Aqua, have been sold to Cabot after…

Moorcroft help required please.
Hi I have been servicing a debt of £7k with Moorcroft. They recently requested a new I&E, and i have had to reduce the payments by about £3, due to increases in rent and Council tax. Their reply has been " Our client has said your repayment falls outside their guidelines " Which to me sounds like they don't accept it. I…

Dealing with financial anxiety
Can anyone point to any resources or anything for helping mentally to cope with financial anxiety. I’m probably a bit on the spectrum and very focussed on numbers/finance/debt and can be a bit obsessive about it. It’s not necessarily about greed or an accumulation of wealth for the sake of feeling rich - but I do get…

Nursing home bill
I dont think this is the right place but wondered if someone could move it to the right place. My friends uncle died in a nursing home last month and his daughter has received a bill for over £30,000. He must have been in about 6 months. The daughter is not really up to dealing with this so my friend is going to have to…
