ESA two week run on
When migrating to UC from ESA you get a 2 week run on, With income based it seems very simple as there is no deduction from UC But what happens with Con ESA? as Con/New Style is deducted from UC? Should that 2 week run on be deducted from UC meaning that the person is no better off as ESA isn't actually ending , or should…

Limited Capability to Work
I received a letter from DWP in Oct 2021 saying I had limited capability to work. At this time I didn't realise I was supposed to get a payment for this. I have discovered today that I should have been getting payments but I have received nothing. I was advised that my query was being referred to a case manager and the…

Universal credit
Hi, I've a question about universal credit. I've spent ages trying to contact CAB. But can't get through. I'm married, rent a home with 2 children and 2 older step children who work full time. I work 37 hours and my wife is self employed, so wages go up and down. I'm looking to change my career to something which more…

backpayment , savings limit, and moving from Old ESA to universal credit
Hi If somebody is on PIP and Old ESA and got an ESA backpayment putting them over £6K, So e.g. then they have £8K or even £17K in their bank account, and and got a letter saying that the backpayment will not affect(cause a reduction in or stop), their benefit for the lifetime of their benefit. Then a few years later, they…

Child Benefit Ended, now what?
So I currently earn above the 60k threshold and we have been claiming child benefits. I've been filling out the self assessment form like I should each year. Our only daughter has now gone off to Uni and our last child benefit payment was back in august. what do I do now? I am assuming...probably incorrectly, that I may be…

DWP compliance review
I claim universal credit after a separation. I have recently been pulled up for a compliance review with DWP due to a “tip off from a member of the public” of my proceeds from the sale of my family home, owned jointly with my ex. Only my ex and his partner would have known the financial information that was provided in the…

So much worse off when tax credit ends and UC starts
As the title says don't know how we will cope when tax credit ends. Are situation won't change but because of the way UC label's are income differently to tax credit, we are going to be about £550 a month worse off. Tough times ahead even thou nothing my end has changed.

New style ESA with UC
Hi, I had to migrate from ESA to UC, but now find myself receiving both. Is it possible to be on just one or the other? So I have been on ESA for about 6 years. I was in support group for some of it and got placed in the work activity group for a couple of years although couldn't work, then at the last medical was put back…

PIP 2016 Law Change
I got a letter from the DWP regarding this, letter somewhat vague just mentioning law change in 2016 and how I might be eligible for more points or words to that effect. I am aware those claims that went to tribunal are not eligible. I switched from DLA to PIP in 2016, this went to tribunal early 2017 but I didn’t win. I…

Universal credit/state pension
Hi, please can anyone advise, my partner claimed child benefit from 1999 onwards but because ni numbers where not on records kept by child benefit in these years they are now saying there is no record if this so he has lost ni contributions for 11 years, he gets his state pension in may 2025 and is not getting full pension…

Financial assessment (means test) for social care
Hello All, My elderly mother currently has approximately £31,000 in savings which puts her over the threshold of £23,250 for the council to pay towards her health/social care which she now needs due to age/dementia, but she has a mortgage of £37,000, if she pays say £15,000 off her mortgage this will mean her savings will…

Can you claim backdated class 3 NI credits from Child Benefit?
My wife hasn't been employed since the birth of our child 7 years ago and we never registered for child benefit as I was earning over the threshold. It has since come to my attention that my wife has missed out on 7 years of class 3 NI credits by us not being child benefit registered. Does anyone know for sure if we can…

Seeking advice from fellow members who have been through a Mandatory reconsideration. We have received report from DWP (awaiting outcome) but I have concerns over 1 of the activities & it's score. Just preempting in case it is needed. I can fully explain why I think it is wrong. When you have contested. Do you point out…

Capital allowances if you live now rented home but want to buy a small property within an inheritanc
I’ve been trying to distil this down, and wherever I look, I don’t seem to get a straight answer. It always seems to end up with wright a letter toDWP and the DM is in a good mood, sadly, my experience of decision makers is somewhat tainted by the shocking treatment. My late wife got at their hands suffering MS and motor…

ESA and pension
For someone getting contribution based ESA I understand there is a limit of £85 per week they can receive in pension before the ESA is reduced. She has a small public-sector pension, paying £120 a month, and has 5 years to go until state-pension age. She has around £15k in a private pension. So £85 x 52 gives a total…

Can you get NI stamps from ESA, PIP, the USA or anything else?
My wife used to be self employed as a Dog Walker, but had to quit her business about four years ago for health reasons. She has had CFS for over ten years, and it became impossible for her to continue working at that point. She has since been diagnosed with MS as well, so a return to work is unlikely. Prior to stopping,…
