Engagement ring insurance
Previously the ring was covered under our contents insurance but we're renewing and the new T&Cs won't cover the ring for loss or damage outside the home. I've looked at a few other home insurers and same problem. The ring has a value of £8K according to the local jewellers who designed it (using heirloom stones BTW, OH…
Struggling to choose venue...
Hi everyone, Got engaged two weeks ago and I know you're supposed to find this a majorly exciting time but I'm a bit overwhelmed. My fianc! is very chilled so he doesn't mind where we get married really or how we do it so I feel like it's a little all on me to choose. I really wanted a cheap barn type wedding. However it…
Best man can't attend - legalities
Hi. My daughter gets married tomorrow. Looks like the best man may not be able to attend. He is, of course, down to be a witness. It's a registrar conducted ceremony in a hotel. Will it cause any problems if someone else has to step in as witness at the last minute ? Thanks for your help.
Wedding Insurance
Morning all, Has anyone come across a wedding insurance company who will cover you for deposits already paid? Buying the actual insurance slipped my mind somewhat and now I've paid several deposits. There are none I'm hugely concerned about but I know I should have cover *just* in case. We were going to go with John Lewis…
Did you have a contract with your wedding florist?
Hi, I met a florist which I want to book for my wedding next year. When I contacted her to book she said I just needed to pay a 50% deposit to secure my date. I replied asking if she had a contract for me to sign and she said she doesn't tend to get me to sign anything but I can sign the quote if I want! Is this the norm…
Show me some geeky engagements rings...
...that you can ACTUALLY buy! I've seen lots of Buzzfeed articles and the like, but often the vendors only ship to the US or it was a commission. I found this, and love it: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/180500748/the-sonic-solitare?ref=shop_home_active_3 (well, I love the whole shop to be quite fair!) ...but would like…
Budget wedding and growing own flowers
Hi all, I've joined the forum today as I'm getting married in 2017 and am hoping to find lots of inspiration for ways to have a special day on a small budget, as we don't have a lot of money and don't enjoy extravagant do's. I've been doing a lot of reading on the internet but thought I had better post and get talking to…
I dont like my invites
If anyone has any experience of this, or suggestions of how I get around my dilemma, I would really appreciate it. Wanted really simple invites, got a local printer just to print invites with the outline of a bride and groom, with the intention of adding a little ribbon for a bowtie onto the groom and a few diamantes on…
African Theme Wedding in Winter?
Hi all, I really want an African safari themed wedding- bright bold prints etc- as I grew up in SA and I like it- however I also want to get married in Winter (jan/feb 2017) both to save money as out of season but also as it fits in with(soonest we can tie the knot) work and busy lives. This is the UK winter, wet and…
