Buying a simple desktop computer
Someone recently told us that using Windows XP on our computer, as we are now, isn't a good idea since it is very vulnerable. Windows' site will not say how much it would cost to upgrade and I am not sure if it would be worth upgrading such an old computer (I think it is from 2006). The computer would be mainly used for…

Fan too noisy
The fan in my amplifier (Laney RB9) is quite noisy and I'm trying to quieten it. I don't know much about electronics so don't know if slowing the fan is an option, and how I would do that, or could I just buy a quieter fan? I don't overwork the amplifier by any means: by virtue of not using it loudly I can hear the fan! So…

WD Mycloud
Just finished uploading over 400 dvds and 300 CDs. Started on 26th December and at last, our entire collection is now onto our WD Mycloud and we love it. We can stream our movies and music to our phones, tablets and smart TVs. Really pleased with it and the clutter of films and CDs are now all stored away in the loft. So…

Should BBC iPlayer be streaming at over 800 MB per hour?
After watching a programme on the iPlayer, I noticed a huge amount of my remaining data had disappeared. I thought I must have streamed on 'normal bandwith' by mistake so, on my next session, I ensured I was on 'lower'. After 6 minutes I checked usage and it had taken 83MB. I'm sure there weren't any major updates going on…

I need to get rid of them but I don't want the data and photos getting into the hands of the enemy, so i'm looking for some way of secure media destruction. I have looked into SITA, but…
