Hi I'm hoping someone can help. I have been using avira anti virus but it's been causing me problems with my laptop so I decided to use the free Virgin media f-secure. When installing it says to remove trustee rapport before it can continue. I went to programs to uninstall and it's not on the list. I vault remember having this a few years ago I think my bank suggested using it. I tried a disk clean up and system restore (the trustee program showed there as uninstalled a few days ago but was called trusteer endpoint protection) I restored back to that day n manually deleted it but f-secure still says it's there. So my question is how can I find and remove this so I can install f-secure. Thanks in advance, I'm not very technically minded so simple instructions would be greatly appreciated

    You what? :)
Personally, I'd be more wary of a program telling me to remove Trusteer Rapport than I would of TR itself. TR includes anti-keylogger software, so I would be reluctant to remove it even if I didn't bank online.

The uninstaller failed to remove Rapport.

    Why?

Rapport includes anti-removal protection to prevent malware from removing it from your computer. This is the reason for the complex uninstall process. In some rare scenarios the uninstaller is unable to shut down the anti-removal protection and as a result fails to remove Rapport.

    What's Next?

We have a special utility that safely removes Rapport from your computer - for downloading the utility, please fill out the following form. You will automatically receive an email with the download link for the utility.

IBM (who bought Trusteer) have recently updated the End User Licensing Agreement (EULA) for Trusteer and it has very worrying implications.

The new EULA basically gives both IBM and your bank full access to your computer and all your files. One quick example: "In addition, You authorize personnel of IBM, as Your Sponsoring Enterprise's data processor, to use the Program remotely to collect any files or other information from your computer that IBM security experts suspect may be related to malware or other malicious activity, or that may be associated with general Program malfunction."

The full EULA is available at http://www.trusteer.com/support/end-...ense-agreement

Based on this change, I recently took the decision to uninstall Trusteer and would strongly suggest that, if you are keeping it on your PC, you make sure that you have read the EULA.

I remember when my bank, HSBC, kept plaguing me to install Trusteer. There was even a time when some messages inferred that if you didn't have it installed you waived your right to any come-back on the bank for unauthorised transactions. They soon backtracked on that.

I have never installed that piece of garbage and I never will.
