How do i safely get rid of an old laptop/desktop?

AVG to scan MSN download file
Can anybody tell me the "path" to put into MSn so that AVG scans any files downloaded? Using Windows Vista Home Prem and AVG 8. I have the pathway setup on my other laptop running XP with AVG8, but the path entered (and working) there doesnt appear to apply with the file structure when I try to browse to it. Thanks
