Form 10-K, for the UK?
Don't know if anyone else has read a 10-K (US regulatory filing) but I find them a lot more useful than the UK annual reports. They give a very detailed description of the business and how it operates, whereas annual reports don't seem to bother describing the operations and logitistics of the businesses. Is there any UK…

Is it correct.....?
That if you open a fixed rate ISA for a couple of grand in current tax year, you can't open another one with the same provider to make up your isa allowance? I opened a two year fr isa with the post office in August for £2000. I knew I couldn't add to it but thought I could open another fixed rate one for another couple of…

Any Safe Saving for non UK residents?
I have a friend who is a UK citizen, but now lives in Europe. It seems that any banks who offer the £85k limit of protected savings are open only to UK residents. Are there any UK banks that offer protected savings to UK citizens who are no longer resident in the UK? Thanks!

Account For Child Without Birth Certificate
I need to open a bank account for my 11 year old son, I can't delay any longer as he really wants one. The trouble is they all want either a passport (don't have) or a birth certificate as proof of ID. I do not want to use the birth certificate as proof as I do not want my son to see it at the moment, as it has a different…

HL's Tracker Charge (slightly different query!)
Ok I know there is a debate raging in the main thread on this but I was curious about my own position and so started my own. Like many other, I hold a number of HSBC trackers and while I understand HL's decision that they should do "something", this will hit me particularly hard. The HSBC funds I have are: - All share…

Selftrade problems.
Seems that they are having issues with pricefeeds constantly, something that happened regularly in the past. Every time I check my account I can never see a correct statement of my holdings. Pretty much tired of this now, and along with their increase in charges for both dealing and annual as well as a less than…

Here You Go: It's Over
We're done folks. CNBC is reporting that there are now clients running out of the markets entirely because they do not believe their customer funds are safe. That's the end of it. The belief that there are more MF Globals has now taken hold. The thieves have pushed it too far and now we've got the start of a global…

Ailied Irish Bank
So what do folks think about the safety or otherwise of Anglo-Irish Bank (now Allied Irish Bank) in the IOM these days? I keep my deposit below the IOM Depositor Protection level of 50,000 which used to be the standard advice although I've heard that even this is not all that much protection and is largely just…

Portfolio changes
In light of the recent decision by Hargreaves Lansdown to introduce a monthly charge for holding HSBC trackers, I have decided to do some fund switching and rebalancing. I last posted a thread about this in June and have since (mostly) pressed on with what I intended to do then. The original thread is here:…

For example, Dan, Jim and Amy pooled our money and earned $300 in interest. I would like to pay my tax rate on my $100 and let them pay their tax rate on their $100 portion. Here is how…

Explain Interest please.
Hi Everyone. I am thinking of investing some money with Yorkshire/Clydesdale Bank 2 year term deposit. My question is that when the interest is added for the first year does the second year add interest on the whole figure or just the original capital that was invested. Thank you for your help. Kind regards. Bob
