Barclays Fixed Monthly Savings account.
Following a tip in yesterday's Money Tips, Fixed Monthly Savings, Best Buys, when I contacted Barclays Bank this morning I was told in no uncertain terms that Barclays would not pay 7.75% on a new Regular Monthly Savings account nor even 6% but 5.1% gross. What gives. Another bank ripoff.?

How would you advise on this dilemma?
An elderly person I know has a Fixed Rate Bond maturing shortly and has been offered another deal by her provider, obviously less than current interest rates, but a reasonable one given the BofE interest rate drop to 2%.. She doesn't have internet access or computer literacy to check around for good rates and isn't very…

Question about ISA interest rate calculation
I have some questions about how the interest is calculated, and hope someone can explain this to me. I opened a Direct ISA with Abbey in May this year, as BOE keeps dropping the rate; I have seen my ISA interest rate changed from 6% to, 4.5% and now 4%. The Big 3-0
Hi All, It will be 30th birthday in November 2010 and, as my New Years resolution I am going to aim to save some money towards a big splurge - probably a holiday. I am going to try and commit £50 per month from February (c'mon! it's January!) 2009 - October 2009, which should leave me with £1050.00, although I have some…

Very interesting video explaining the money system
I found this video very interesting to watch. I didn't realise banks created 95% of the money in circulation today. I never realised that the money system is never taught in schools. And the point at the end about how much of tax payers money is spent on interest paid to the banks is interesting also. What I'd like to ask…
