Sending a cheque via Special Delivery - still waiting after 2 days...

I recently applied for a fixed bond account and sent everything I needed (ID, application & cheque) via special delivery. Now it has been over 48 hours and the letter is still down as "progressing through our network" on the royal mail track and trace.
I thought special delivery was supposed to be quick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the cheque isnt received in time I will miss the guaranteed rate!

Hi Rob
Did you send it special delivery (guaranteed either 9am or 1pm the next day) or recorded signed for - first or second class plus about 72p extra?

It was special delivery. Cost me £4.60 for a small envelope!
It wasnt before 9am but would have expected it to arrive the next day at least. Its been 2 days now. It surely will arrive tomorrow..........!?0 -

It sounds like special delivery for 1pm the next day - as this has not happened I would give them a call - apparently there should be a customer services number on the receipt they would have given you (the one with the track and trace number on it).

Indeed, I checked with the phone track and trace also and it says still progressing. It says on the receipt guaranteed delivery date 16th. In that case I may be due a refund as they have failed in their service? I will have to call customer services tomorrow....0

Usually the track and trace online says exactly the same as the automated track and trace on the phone - try and get through to a real person tomorrow.
Good luck with that though

To think it cost me the best part of £5! Not something I recommend!0

Have you checked with your bpnd company? I assume by saying that they "they haven't updated your account" you are looking at your online banking? You sent a cheque and this won't appear until its cleared, so it wouldn't show now anyway.
The new software that Royal Mail use is still new and may not have been updated.
Also, just checking, but did you send this to an address or a PO Box number?0 -
sounds like someone may not have confirmed a delivery barcode at the end of the day
with the guns RM use (RMGTT) the duty barcode must be closed at the end of business
otherwise it will still show as progressing on the customer site
get CS to contact the delivery office who can do a full T&T track showing exactly where it is and what actions have happened with it0
