Borrowing at U.S rates
Is it possible to borrow money at U.S rates as it is so low? Would you have to have security to do so for a U.K citizen i.e property to mortgage/investment against? What would be the potential hazards of doing this if it is possible?

Barclays fixed rate monthly saver
I opened a monthly saver account with Barclays today, having read Martin's recommendation (last e-mail news sent out 2 days ago). In his posting Martin states that it is paying 7.75% if you credit the account before December 31st. My local branch disputes this however, saying that the rate of 6% has been fixed since…

Seeking Joint A/c paying monthly interest
Can anybody please recommend some easy access accounts which can be jointly held and pay monthly income? (Not in the HBOS/Birm Midshires/Saga/AA stable to avoid compensation problems). The various searches I've made don't always make it clear whether accounts can be jointly held. Thanks.

Anglo Irish Bank
The chairman and founder of the Anglo Irish Bank, Sean Fitzpatrick, has resigned over a loan irregularity. Shares have dropped, but the Irish government says it will continue to guarantee all savings within the set limit. I was about to open an account with them, but will now hold back.

Crude oil at a record low - investment opportunity?
Hi there all, now first let me say my financial knowledge is next to zero (but for the few nuggets of wisdom that I've absorbed from this site and it's users), and what I'm writing below isn't an overly serious suggestion. Anyway, watching the news these days you won't have failed to notice that Crude Oil is at an all time…

Any news on citibank?
Just wondered if anyone with Egg accounts has heard any news on citibank lately? I know share price has dropped again, but haven't heard how wobbly they are. I've just topped up my fixed 6.3% account, but feeling a bit twitchy as all my money is in there. :(

10% return per year on your investment over 10 years.
I am sure that alot of you would agree with me that i am not happy with the current interest rate on my savings. 2% is no where near what i would like to earn on my hard earned money. I have seen a company where you can invest a minimum of £100, and a maximum of £10,000 and you will get a 10% return on your investment per…

What's the definition of "emergency"? Anglo-Irish bank fixed rate product
I'm looking at putting something in the 5% account, fixed for one year. I was looking at the T&Cs. Basically the penalty is 60 days interest if you withdraw early, which you can only do in the event of an emergency. Do they need to agree that the event is an emergency? Or can you have your own reasons like: a. worried…
