FUNDS vs SHARES
My son is telling me that Shares will give me a better return than funds, with the market being what it is at the moment. Can anybody tell me if this is true? My IFA doesn't seem to think so, but he's broker does! Funny that

RPI today - any predictions?
Since I guess more than a few here have a vested interest. With food inflation at approx 5% in a MONTH you'd expect it to jump up, although the ONS will probably say that it's fallen because the price of tickets to see Robbie Williams isn't as high as when he was popular.

PEP's and ISA's
My husband and I both have a number of small PEP's and ISA's, usually using thetax free threshhold each year. Our financial adviser is saying its getting 'too messy' to keep a handle on everything and suggests we use the tax free wrapper and move it all into one investment. He's suggesting we join 'Transact' and move all…

Lump sum over 35k, how/where to split it up?
Hi, I'm coming into some money which will most likely be over 35k. Part of this money will be used to pay off around 10k's worth of debt with CC's/Bank loan etc, the rest I will use for a deposit on a house. I'd like some advice on what is best to do with the remainder if it's 35k or more and would only be put away for a…

KAUPTHING EDGE Money transfers
When I move money between Internet banks I usually do it on a Sunday evening. I arranged to move a large sum from Kaupthing Edge last night and it said that because it was after 1pm it could not be done today the 12th May so I had no choice but to enter 13th May for the transaction to take place. On the last page of the…

Icesave minimum amounts
Hi everyone, This question has probably been asked before - apologies if it has. Most (if not all) Icesave accounts specify a minimum opening balance (such as £1000 for the ISA or £250 for the easy access savings account). That I can understand, but I was wondering what happens if you open an account with Icesave with at…

Nationwide FlexAccount - BACS out?
Hi Rather than hijack the other NW thread I thought I'd start a new one. Does anyone know if you can transfer money to an account at another bank via BACS? My parents have twice tried to transfer money to the smile bank but on each occasion they were told to take out the cash from NW and pay it in themselves to smile, or…

Nationwide FlexAccount
I recently applied for a Nationwide FlexAccount because I travel a lot and need local currency cash. But instead of receiving a debit card I received a cashcard, I don't see how I'd be able to use this abroad for payments/withdrawals as it's usually chip&pin. Any ideas? EDIT: I apologise for putting the thread in the wrong…
