I'm learning all the time here:D :A It's the following: http://www.westbrom.co.uk/westbrom/savings.product?id=3505&FROM_CAMPAIGN=true&CAMPAIGN_SRC=SAVINGS_HOME Now I believe that the annual interest rate will give me a return (based on 6 months) of…

Old Premium Bonds
My father in law died recently and when going through his belongings we came across some premium bonds in his wifes name (she died 11 years ago). There is one for £100 (1977) and two for £1.00 (1957). We also have the documentation to go with them. But after looking on the premium bond site I think they could only have…

B&B - instant access or bond
I notice Bradford & bingley's instant access account is payign 6.40% but their 6 month bond is paying 6.50% - is locking your money up worth the extra .10% interest? Looks like the BOE is only talking about another 0.25% cut this year so is it not doubtful that the instant account will go below 6.00%, especially as B&B…

Investing assuming UK stagflation
So, all the economic indicators point to the UK entering a period of stagflation with double-digit inflationary increases in prices and a slump in demand for products and services. Everone will feel poor and stop buying everything but essentials. Some people may remember 1973-1980! What investment approach would be…

Kaupthing Edge inflexibility
I have just tried opening a savings account with Kaupthing Edge. To open this they insist on an original Account statement from one of my other bank accounts showing my name and address. As all my accounts are on-line they do not show names and addresses. I have offered a Utility Bill as well as my internet printed…

Yorks B. Soc. don't like (or know) me!
I'm having real problems with a new account at the Yorkshire Building Society. They don't seem to want to acknowledge my existence. When opening a new account (even if I'm already logged in securely) they maintain their 'electronic verification system' doesn't know I exist. I've been a saver with them for nearly 10 years…

Wonder if someone could clarify this for me... its puzzled me for a while. I have a stocks and shares isa at the moment which I pay 50 per month into. I cannot work out if I am entitled to also have a cash isa and still put 3000 per year in or if you can only have a cash isa only or a stocks and shares isa only per year.
