Which Account?!
Hello, I've recently started a business as a sole trader, which means that I am going to have to take care of my own tax returns. I'm likely to get cheques for £1,600 every month or so, and I intend to put a third of this out of the way straight away in a high interest account, so that I don't spend what the taxman wants,…

Moving A&L issue 1 to issue 2
Hi, I've left my money in the closed A&L online saver and it's now dropped to 4.75%. But the new issue 2 is 5.15%! (until 30 June 2006) Has anyone moved their savings from issue 1 to issue 2? What would be the easiest way of doing it? Or any other top paying accounts? I don't move the money very much, it's only £2k+ and I…

Opening saving account without a cheque
Hi, Are there any savings accounts that you don't need a cheque for £x to open? ICICI have requested a cheque for £x in order to open the new account. Another question relates to the A&L current account and regular saver. I have a cahoot current account paying 4% and a Halifax 7% regular saver. The problem with switching…

Inheritance to invest!
Can anyone give me some advice? My OH is due to inherit a fairly large sum of money shortly, and wants to look at investing this. However, he would like to have fairly easy access to the money (should we need it!) He doesn't want a too high risk investment either! Any ideas where to start? Thanks

Transferring Credit to the USA from the UK
I may be moving to the USA for a while with work. The problem is that I have no credit history in the US. That means that buying cars, renting property is going to be a pain in the neck. Wells Fargo will let us open a bank account, but it will be based on what we can deposit, no credit will be available. I tried my own…

How are share prices worked out?
Just a quick question... How exactly are share prices worked out? Yes, I understand some of the things that affect the share price, but who actually decides on the figures that are printed in the paper in the morning, and quoted on the internet during the day?

Alliance & Leicester Regular Saver
I note that A&L are offering a regular savings account which pays 10% with effect from 31 October 2005. To benefit from this offer, one has to open a new Premier current account with them. Unfortunately, this offer is not open to those of us who already have a Premier current Account. On suggesting to A&L today that I…

Savings accounts accessible from overseas
Anyone know which of the card-based savings accounts are accessible overseas? The only two I know of myself are Woolwich Cardsaver (with a Visa Electron card) and Egg (with a Plus cash card). I'd like one with a debit card and internet access but can't think of such a beast. Arnold

How long do you need to have shares to qualify for a dividend?
I imagine this is something that is set by the individual companies themselves, so I'm just looking for a ball park figure. Or am I completely wrong and you can just buy them the day before the dividend payout? MattLG

How much interest would have been paid if....
......£2.50 was saved in an ordinary bank savings account every Friday since 1997, with no withdrawals ? Genuine query. I need to know roughly how much interest was lost during this period, although I realise it wont be very much. I know it is very much a 'how long is a piece of string' type question but even a ball park…

ICICI charge for change of HiSave linked account!
I just received an email, which I nearly mistook for a phishing attempt because it was sent to a mailing list of undisclosed recipients coming from UK Direct/IBG/IBANK/LONDON. They are requesting a £1 cheque to change the linked account. Initially, I did not even link the email to me changing the linked account because I…
