A little glimmer of training hope
Apologies in advance all as I'm going to post and run (got to get back to work) but wanted to share / brag that: After 16 months (yes that's right, 16 months) of training, Little Girl Dog, aged 9.5 years, who is variously described as dense, vague, senile, daft and downright thick appears to have finally twigged that if…

Introducing Little Missy (Mini-Lop Doe).
So, back in August we had to have our solitary bunny put to sleep. This left a serious hole in our family. I still miss him every day, but tonight we collected Little Missy. She is so adorable, and will be half of a pair. We plan on getting her a hus-bunny later this week, who will have his own cage until they are both…

Flea treatment
Hi....my cat has fleas. Usually i use frontline but read that it's not very effective, and the last time I used it, I found the same. I've used RIP throughout the house, but not sure what yo use on my cat. Does anyone know of anything which is effective on getting rid of these horrible pests? Many thanks

Actim£l (probiotics) and dogs
Hi x The breeder of my two dogs (westies) has suggested that probiotic yogurt might be helpful for their tummies. One of my dogs periodically suffers from a gurgling tummy which causes her distress. There is no sickness or diarrhoea but she will not eat or drink for 24 hours. She has been tested for pancreatitis and other…

Dog grooming advice
I'm still struggling with keeping my boy's coat well maintained. I think I've posted before. It mats easily, often within a day of last grooming there is a hither nasty knot and he is really resenting grooming. With immense guilt to day I realised the advised slicker brush is pArt of the problem, even though I never press…

Separation Anxiety
Hey guys, Hoping some of you can offer some suggestions... As I mentioned in another thread, I have taken on a 1 year old lurcher as an emergency foster. Lovely, sweet dog, but he has had a bit of a rough time of it recently and as such has become far too attached to me. The attachment issues vary depending on how stressed…

Newbie cat
Following on from: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4758313 (For those who can bear the long read!) Well, we've had Morris for a few weeks now. Funny cat! He is more like a dog. Lottie hasn't particularly taken to him - but is much better than she was. She will growl or hiss if he gets very close, or raise…

Giving hamster antibiotics
I'm at my wits end, my hamster Chino won't take the antibiotics prescribed. I've dropped it onto dry food he likes, mixed it with a little porridge oats, tried to syringe it into his mouth but still nothing. I don't want to stress him out by constantly trying to give him something he doesn't want; but he needs the…

Older cat insurance
I have a 13 year old cat, at present on a policy with a 3yr old. Anyone got any recommendations for a good cat insurance for older cats. Not sure whether to go for a life policy as I change who they're with annually, but it's getting harder to do that with an older cat. Can anyone recommend somewhere that does not have an…

a rather strange funeral
I went to my husbands uncles funeral today - I knew the arrangements, so wasn't surprised to see Uncles beloved dog jump out of the funeral car and line up with the family and go into the chapel of rest! This did provoke some comments from those around me. ranging from 'I should have known that dog would come' to This…

Too clever for his own good!
Yes it's another rant about LS. Never thought I'd be owned by such a infuriatingly clever little pup! Over the weekend I decided to go out for the afternoon. The BF decided he was staying in doing gardening and volunteered to babysit (or be babysat by) LS while I went out. I get in the car and head out. Almost immediately…
