Daisy

Have 2 german shepherds but tonight only one, my dd 18 took daisy whose 5 out for a walk today, same as normal while i took the other one, daisy was on the lead and walking when suddenly out of the blue she jumped at dd ripped her coat to shreds and bit her 8 times on the belly and legs, she was frenzied, she tied her to a fence and came home whenen i got back she was hysterical, daisy has now been put to sleep and i feel a total failure.

OMG! Is your DD ok? she showed great presence of mind to tie the dog to a fence rather than just drop the lead and run! I do hope she heals ok - in mind as well as in body!

Is vet doing a post mortem? because I cant help wondering if there was a physical cause such as a stroke or brain tumour?

    I am so sorry Arly!
I cant help thinking you are not responsible for this - how could you predict this happening? or prevent it?

Oh my. Poor daughter and sensible too.

No, its not your fault. Something must have gone wrong in Daisy's mind or illness, or shocked at something for her to have suddenly turned like that.

Remember Daisy as a pup and focus on DD.

Hope the other dog is OK.... not unwell?.

Oh so very sorry to hear this.
Whatever the cause, it's not your fault.
  • Thankyou everyone whose replied, she is physically okay but she cant get her head around the fact that daisy was her friend and she just turned, she said the attack lasted about 4 minutes and then daisy went back to normal, she said she was really calm and was trying to talk to her to calm her down but the only thing that stopped daisy was dd grabbing her mouth and clamping it shut.

Maybe she had a virus or somthing, i just dont know, feel so sad for dd as she is hurting so much. I left daisy at vets as couldnt face bringing her back to bury. Ive had shepherds for years and a doberman but never experienced anything like this, THank god dd is ok, no tears just puncture holes and a lot of bruising. Cant think of a single reason why this would come out the blue, vet said she would have done it again and i didnt really have much choice in the matter, thankyou all for listening to me rattle on and offering your sympathies it really means a lot xx

I know of someone who's dog did this out of the blue (happened to be GSH too not that is anything to do with it though). She ended up with over 140 (I think as a long time ago) stitches to her head and face. It was a brain tumour, no-ones fault, just happened.

    Very sad.

I hope your daughter feels better soon, and sounds like she was one sensible cookie too.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Oh how awful! Hope your daughter's ok. What a terrible shock for you all.
  • That is so sad and awful, I'm so sorry. Poor daughter, poor you and poor Daisy. Will the vet do any sort of blood tests or anything, just to see if there was anything wrong? That might put your mind at rest but I can't see how it was your or your daughters fault. How absolutely tragic :(
