Where to find some cats/kittens?
We would love to get a couple of cats soon, can you recommend anywhere to look? We got our last cats through word of mouth (sadly both died in accidents within a couple of months of each other earlier this year). We are feeling ready to home some more but don't seem to have heard of any available. I tried looking at all of…

Introducing Little Mister (mini lop buck)
So as I wrote here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=4804245 In the summer holidays our house rabbit, Bunny, was put to sleep. On Sunday we brought Missy home (in the link above) and last night we brought Mister home. :) They currently have their own 2 story cage placed next to each other so they can…

National Black Cat Day.
Today is national Black Cat Day. Cat charities say that black cats take nearly twice as long to rehome as other colours. If YOU are thinking of adopting a cat why not consider a black or a black and white one. Eighteen months ago we adopted a black cat from Cat Protection. She was a stray and had been found with a hook in…

Dogs constantly barking etc
I want to start this by saying I have never owned a dog in my life so not well up on dog care etc. Our neighbours of 11 years moved away and put their house up to let. Around a month and a half ago a guy moved in next door, all was fine for a few days. Three days after he moved in we got home from work to see that he had…

Old Style Flea Treatment
Mutt has fleas  so I've got my arsenal ready .....capster tablets & spray for the house. But having a look on the internet tea tree oil seems to be a favourite old style method of getting rid of the unwanted visitors and brewer's yeast in preventing them. So I've got myself some oil but it says on the bottle not to be…

Working people - and dogs
Sitting at work just looked out of the window and it is DARK. Hate this time of the year as the only way I can take Zara out myself is on a lead as can not let her run off the lead in the dark. Weekdays I mean. She gets a good walk off lead with the dog walker at midday but with me - on lead only.... Sigh.... Waiting for…

Dogs in Car
I am wondering how everyone deals with having their dog in the car - in terms of safety harness or whatever. We have a small 3-door Punto, and our greyhound just lies on the backseat. We only ever take her about in the car locally, and she loves the car, and behaves herself - however I wouldn't want to go on a faster road…

Dog injured during stay at kennels
Hi all. I'm hoping someone can help me. We recently kenneled our dog for just over a week. He's been in a kennel several times before and has always been fine. As we were putting him in the car outside the kennels, we noticed his face was all cut, inflamed and weeping. We went straight back to find the owner and all he…

Cats and wondows (mould problem)
Edit! Windows! not wondows.. Hi Guys Two questions: I keep getting recurring mould in my bathroom and I've now discovered it in the bedroom, its the cold side of the house which doesn't help and the heating doesn't work well in there, but I think the main problem is I hardly ever have the windows open since I got Puss. One…

EDIT: He was on dried food before but it seemed to go through him so we've changed it now. Hence the Q as not sure with wet food

Anyone have an elderly cat go through general anaesthesia? UPDATE
My cat is now 18 1/2, up until this year he has always been very spritely and full of life, despite being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism a couple of years back. 6 months ago we lost his brother and then a month later my cat fell funnily from the desk and ever since seems to have suffered with arthritic pain which we use…

Introducing an older dog to an elderly cat
Hi I wonder if anyone can give me some advice. I have a 21 year old tabby cat who I have had since he was 1 and half years old. He is blind and deaf now, so does not venture very far these days and tends to sleep most of the time. He has never lived with a dog. A friend of a friend is desperate to find a home for her 8…

Tips for keeping an old man happy
Just come back from a rush to the vets with Bob. Had a horrible morning, he came in from the garden and promptly lost footing with his back legs. He wouldn't settle and was struggling to walk (our wooden floors didn't help) Bob is a 13 and a half (the half matters ;) ) Westie, he's a bit blind in one eye and stone deaf.…

Keeping an Old Pud Comfy
Hi everyone, (swallows away the tears that are forming) Mr Shortie and I have never had an old animal of our own (we both grew up around animals when we were little but I don't really remember much about them getting old) and we have an old pud (Pip).. We've had Pip in and out of the vets recently as he suddenly lost a lot…
