Rescue dog weeing in the house

We have two dogs a patterdale terrier Scrappy that we have had since he was a puppy and a jack russell Jinny who is a rescue dog and we have had for about three years I guess.

At night time they have the run of the kitchen and conservatory we have a doggy door going out to the garden which in the day they have full access to the house and garden at night we shut the doggy door up as they had started to bark at night and we thought that it wasn't very fair to our neighbours.

They have two conservatory chairs that they sleep on with blankets and we have another igloo type bed for Scrappy as he like to be enclosed. So now pretty much every morning when we get up Jinny has weed on Scrappy's bed and also on the mat in the conservatory.

What do you think the reason could be for her doing this? They have a 30 minute walk in the morning and another one hour walk in the evening any advice would be greatly appreciated

Is this new or have they always done it? How do you know which one has weed?
  • If Scrappy has a wee he does it against the wall with Jinny she crouches down and does it so its anything that is on the floor like yesterday i had to wash the door mat so put a towel on the floor and she went on that

Does Jinny have access to a water bowl through the night? Maybe she's filling up & can't hold it all night?
    Nice to save.
  • Yes they have two water bowls one in the kitchen and one in the conservatory I am always worried they may tip them up. We never tell her off for it as she was very badly miss treated before she came to us and I wonder if it has something to do with that

How late is the last time in the evening that you take them out. Mine have free access to outside, but one was having accidents at night. I started standing outside with them very last thing before I got into bed, and not coming in before they've had a pee. Within a week they've cottoned on, pee as soon as we go outsidea nd things are better.

Sorry, how long has this been happening?
  • It has been happening since we had Jinny but less frequently as time has gone on - we had a dry night last night - but we made sure they went outside to toilet before bed

Do you not normally do that?
  • You can get litter trays for dogs.

Also you can get Urine Off for puppies who have accidents. Urine Off helps you by killing the smell and disinfects and helps little one by killing the smell for them too, they then are less encouraged from peeing there again.
  • They normally have access outside until we go to bed so we don't always make sure they have been out so we will start doing that now - also I will look into a litter tray that isn't a bad idea thank you
