Prescription expired????

Was ordering Onsior from Zara as I normally do on Animed Direct website. t the check out it came up with a message "no prescription available" but clicked "proceed" as I knew I uploaded a prescription for 90 tablets on 12th September and only bought about 40 so there should be still about 50 left on that prescription.
Followed by an email with order number and a copy scan of the prescription they should have on file.
Got an email today saying that prescription expired on 10th October as it was only valid for one month after the issue.
What?????
Since when?
I was always getting a 3 month prescription from the vets, uploading it to Animed and buying what I needed monthly, never had any issues with this before.
I of course pay for prescriptions so having to get one every month???? If I could (and was getting) get one for 3 months supply but at 0.71 per tablet, did not want to order 90 tablets at once if I need 30 per month.
Now I am left with no tablets for Zara as have to get her to the vets for a check up to get another prescription as the vets say they gave me 3 months prescription so should have enough tablets to last me nearly 2 more months.
So vet visit around £40.00, prescription charge £12.30 - for one month of tablets? Because Animed decided the last prescription was valid for a month only????
Has anyone came across that ever?

I noticed this earlier this year (April?) which was the last time I had a prescription from the vets. Previously you always had 6 months to fill the script.
I asked the receptionist and she said that there had been changes in the rules and regs (I didn't know whether to believe her TBH as they have BS a bit about prescriptions before) but it seems she was telling the truth!
It might be worth giving the vets a call and seeing if they will reissue the prescription without a consultation as it's within the
3 months they were happy to prescribe for - might have to pay the £12.30 but not slog up there and pay for a consult?
ETA You can still buy the 3 months worth of meds but it has to be all bought within the 30 days IYSWIM.0 -
I ordered some Advocate from Animed a month or so ago with a prescription and I remember reading something on there then about the script only being valid for a month from date of issue - would it be worth trying to ring them?0

I had the same issue with Animed for my girls Metacam. I started using pet drugs online instead, the only issue I've had with them is that they once failed to link my order to the correct prescription and it took a few days for them to link it to the current one and release the order. I've used them again since with no issues.0

Thanks everyone - I am an idiot,.
It is not Animed's fault, the prescription says "valid for one month only".
Never noticed that before, never had a prescription with such clause on it.
Allprevious prescriptions I could buy any amount any time, this one IS different - first time used those vets, not sure if it is particular to them or if the regulations have really changed?
In any case, have to get a new prescription now - grrrrrrrrrrrrr
The whole point of getting 3 month's worth was to pay 1 prescription charge for 3 months worth of tablets not to pay prescription charge every month OR buy 3 months worth of tablets in one month
Oh, life.. sigh...0 -
I did call the vets but the PM was not there any more, they will call me back tomorrow and will see what we can do then...
Thanks everyone xx0 -
You can ask your Vet to issue a prescription with instructions to repeat it. I have one for my dogs heart meds, which cost £2.50 a tablet, so like you it's a bit too expensive to get them all at once! My Vet always puts "repeat twice" in the instructions i.e. initial issue and two further repeat issues and I've never had any problems with this.
HTH,

Thanks but the issue here was that the prescription expiry date was one month - so even if it said repeat 20 times.. past the expiry date Animed could not issue.
Spoke to vets, spoke to Animed, vets sent me new prescription, I forwarded to Animed, they are sending the tablets tonmorrow.
All sorted, thanks.
BUT have to keep an eye on prescriptions expiry date from now on....0
