5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3
Ok I'm diving in as I've noticed several of us have lost posts we thought had posted, and there now seems to be a serious risk of losing the whole thread. So thanks for the heads up Karcher. (and i sympathise Frith - i too like to nip back) I've revisited the first thread of our part 2, posted 28th October 2009. It said:…

What charity shop items do you regret NOT buying?
Just watching one of these old cast iron coffee mills passing through £60 on ebay reminded me of missing one for £3 in a chazzer in Worcester once. They weigh a fair bit so I thought, rather than buy it straight away, I'd come back in an hour's time. You know the rest... :o So what have you regretted not buying?

Capital one ppi
Hi. I am new to the forums so apologies if I touch on previous discussions. I have just applied for a ppi refund from capital one via the app Resolver (highly recommended if anyone hasn't used it yet). Capital one rang me to confirm some details, then a couple of days later I got a message from them via Resolver stating…

Cooking for one (Mark Two)
In view of the issue of longer threads being auto-deleted I thought wise to start a shiny new thread as we had got to over 5.5K posts.:) The original "Cooking for one" thread can be found here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5585796 13th Jan 17 at 7:32 PM Hi, newbie poster though long time lurker trying to…

Disappearing Threads and the like
Hi All I wanted to post this as a new thread to ensure everyone was kept informed. A couple of very popular threads have been auto deleted by the system, and this has caused much frustration (understandably) Having spoken to Andrea & the Forum team, it has been confirmed the team are investigating and reviewing the system…

Homemade deep hair conditioning
I have tried a few things to deep condition hair and none seem to have been "amazing" they work ok but not for long. Its getting more and more frizzy by the day at the moment, I use coconut oil but it's not cutting it at all. I've tried mayo etc, I'm considering purchasing a frizz ease serum and deep conditioning oil, but…

Best way to make your house smell nice?
Hello all, I am hoping I could get some advice. Now that we are in summer I've put aside my lack luster smelly candles till winter and I'm not looking to put them back out to be honest and wondering what would be the best way to make my little place smell nice. Not that it doesn't but we have two messy pups and I worry…

Weekly Flylady Thread 17th July 2017
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We also…

Is my Dunelm dish killing us ?
I have a lovely Dunelm (so, not very expensive) gratin dish which looks like a le Creuset but was MUCH cheaper. It has a non-stick black lining which was great to start with, but which is now slowly flaking off. I imagine we are eating it without realising it. Do you think this is dangerous and that I should chuck the dish…

Its not likely to happen any time soon as it is a HUGE amount of money :( anyway what I discovered is that because I live in a flat (ground floor) I need a composite door…

Charity shops getting expensive!
I buy all my clothes (besides underwear and shoes) at charity shops and I've noticed the prices going up these last few weeks. Skirts are now priced around £6 when I used to pay £3-4. Even the Primark and George seem to be more secondhand than they were new! I've new started buying my clothes at car boot sales where it's…

Whey to Go... (What to do with leftovers?)
Hi folks, Had some milk that was on the turn and so used it to make ricotta cheese. Have used some of the leftover liquid to make a wheaten/oat soda bread, but am now left with about 2/3 pint of acid whey. I hate wasting anything, so any suggestions would be welcomed! TIA:j

Making a broth with bones/meat
Ok so I was passing a local butcher that had a sign saying dog bones £1, my relatives are visiting in a few days with their dog so thought I would get a bag. The bag ended up to be massive, not sure if it was because I went about 45 minutes before closing time but its about the size of a bag for life! and the bones have…

Keeping scrambled egg in fridge
I am making my poor old dog scrambled egg for breakfast everymorning, of course in the interests of fairness and harmony, I also have to make some for my not so old dog too. If I have to be on an early shift they give me guilt inducing looks so I end up egg scrambling rather than lunch packing! ( they could wait for OH to…
