What foodstuff do you keep in your shed?
We are getting a replacement shed this week, 10' x 8' so quite big for a few gardening tools and a bike. I was hoping to keep a bit of food in there. The windows and glazed door will be west facing so will get the sun from mid afternoon. Will it get too warm for storing food? I know that I shouldn't store packets unless…

Can anyone advise what colour is best for a long-life/durability and ease of cleaning so I don't have to buy any more for ages once I buy this set? My current bedding which is falling apart is navy (and whilst it has lasted a long time I have never been that…

Do I NEED fabric conditioner?
I'm leaning towards not bothering to repurchase it. I ran out about a week ago and haven't noticed a blind bit of difference in our laundry. [threadbanner]box[/threadbanner]

Cost Of Food Set To Soar
Yesterday I read that the cost of food is predicted to soar and today on the news, on the way home from the garden centre, they have said that bacon and pork products are set to go through the roof cost wise. Reason being is that welfare standards are being increased, (rightly so) but that it is no longer cost productive…

Freezing cheese
Hi all, I went to the wholesalers yesterday and got a serious bargain. They had a 2.5kg block of extra mature cheddar for £5.29, basically they had made a pricing mistake it should have cost over £14 (£5.29 / kg). Anyway I queried the price and the said, you can have it for £5.29 it is our mistake so we will honour the…

Old ice cream tubs have been used in the past I know but I dont have any and same for old take away containers. So, are freezer bags my best bet? TIA

Can anyone tell me how long to roast a duck crown for please? I have searched online and have found conflicting advice - some say half hour, others say 2 and half hours! I just want to simply roast it, nothing fancy. Although I am hoping to roast some potatoes in the fat that will come out of it! PS. I have a fan assisted…

I have an ongoing problem with very severe anaemia. I know what causes it and the remedy is to have a blood transfusion. Rugby team food catering
Hello all, been away a while but may I pick your brains? I'm doing the food for local men's match next week, catering for 40 at £1 a head or less. I've done a bit of Internet research and found no quantities or coatings posted. I'm thinking either stew or chilli or bolognease. Has anyone any advice to offer me please.…

Clothes washed with cardboard, help please
I have washed a dark load and accidentally picked up some cardboard at the same time. All the washing is covered in little fibres and my hubby's only 2 pair of work trousers seem ruined. I have washed them 3 times, once on a long wash but they are still covered. :( Does anyone have any advice to see if they can be rescued?…

Dyeing Rowan Wool
Have any knitters dyed wool? I knitted a cardi a couple of years ago with Rowan wool but I don't like the colour (a beige "rich tea biscuit" coolour) and haven't worn it. I'm annoyed that it's a waste of v v expensive wool, so I've bought a dylon dye today (a handwash dye, it says it is suitable for wool), but I'm a bit…

We are a family of 5 three dds 6, 3 and 1 and me (SAHM) and dh (nurse). We just about manage to pay the bills, food etc but never have anything left really just for fun or to spend. Keeping a chilli plant alive?
I hope someone can help! I am the biggest plant killer going, but I want to keep a chilli plant alive! I bought it in a pot from Asda and it did really, surprisingly well! I got loads of chillis from it, but now I'm wondering on how best to keep it alive? I don't have a garden or windowsills, so it's been on my kitchen…

Gluten free pastry...
Seems to be a bit of a struggle to get a 'good' recipe, that doesn't use weird flours and ingredients. I had a poke around on the internet last night, and found a couple I might try out today, but I was wondering if any of the most knowledgeable bunch of people I know (that's YOU OSers!!!) had a fail safe reasonably robust…
