Hi Guys
I am looking at making some batches of Chilli, Spag Bol and some other things and wondered what people do for storing such portions in the freezer?
Old ice cream tubs have been used in the past I know but I dont have any and same for old take away containers.
So, are freezer bags my best bet?
TIA

I use old margarine tubs....re use them over and over again, I just put them through the dishwasher between uses! I also use freezer bags a lot at the moment. They work fine0 -
Freezer bags are fine. We have loads of plastic boxes which we have collected over the time. If you imagine they are big enough for two sandwiches. We use these.
They stack nicely and the labels stay onWe use stationary address labels.

I use freezer bags sometimes as well. I fill the bags while they are sitting in small bowls and then put the bowl with the bag in it in the freezer. That means if there happens to be a little whole in the bag, it won't go everywhere and they are easier to stack in the freezer.A Bag A Month Challenge member0

I buy either foil tubs or plastic tubs in Poundland (like the chinese takeaway ones) they are the perfect size for two people.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

If you are putting it into bags make sure it is cold (the food) beforehand and as Veggiecatlady says it is easier to put the bag into a bowl and freeze it.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money

I use sandwich bags and divide up everything into individual weighed portions. That way, we can 'shop' at the freezer for whatever is needed, depending on who's around.
I have two daughters away at college, so it's easy for them to take their dinners for the week or two between visits home if it's all in individual packets.
For soups and liquids, I stand the bags side by side in loaf tins and put them in the freezer. Once they're frozen, I turf them out. Like a previous poster, I always put the bags in bowls to thaw.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.
