Steamed chicken

Options
Does anyone else use a steamer to cook chicken? I needed cooked chicken for my recipe last night and as the steamer was already on I threw my chicken breast in there. It turned out lovely, tender, moist, easy to slice up and really tasty and quick. I will def be steaming my chicken breasts in future I find they dry out in the oven and the kids moan when they ae too dry!

Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

I use my pressure cooker and it makes lovely moist chicken & a nice strong stock too.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
  • I have never steamed chicken, but I do poach it in stock and it comes out juicy and silky.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

If youre using your steamer and youre wanting some boiled eggs for tomorrows lunch you can chuck (well not literally) in too, they do really well.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I don't normally post on the OS board but read the steaming tip yesterday and tried it today .... perfect chicken, it was a lot lovelier than oven backed, all soft and no tough outsides!

So ... big thank you for the tip, I can see this will be a favourite moving forwards for us.

I discovered this by accident some years ago and its been a fav. way of cooking chicken especially pieces which go on the bbq! at least I know its cooked in the middle this way. When I make chicken ceasar or hot chicken and bacon salad I cook my chicken this way. So yes, a great way to cook chicken to keep it moist and tasty.
